Burst pipe!

Help

I've changed all the pipes that lead to the radiator with silicone hose however when I started the car today it burst as shown in the picture. I assume this contains oil as opposed to coolant? What would cause this, it was brand new silicone hose, recently had new oil etc... I'm not aware of damaging the hose in anyway and it hasn't caught on anything. Any suggestions?

If those are your engine oil cooler lines then it depends what kind of silicone you used..

Some is not 'oil safe' (i.e. the oil eats it), and quite apart from that, you're looking at mondo pressure in those pipes - probably far far above their specifications unless they're designed as oil carrying hoses.

I thought that might be the case, I'll change them back to the original ones.

Correct Aaron, Vac lines are suitable for water ( most temps) oil breathers, boost vacuums, coolant overflows, insulation. Vac lines to carry fuel and hot oil are of a special construction which is often to order from most companies.

Not one that i do either.
