My dash is peeling back from the windscreen vent.....yyuuucchhh !!

Its done 52K miles and is 12 years old so its sat in 12 Japanese summers with the heat pouring in through the glass .... the passenger seat is a bit rough as well from heat treatment I would guess.

This is not particularly a problem with Zeds / with any car - Any of you guys ever seen this or had any experience a of a cure ???

think it is common - mine is lifting a little bit. There is a 'how to' to fix in somewhere.

David

Very common unfortunatly. One of the zeds little faults with age. Can be cured with a strong glue (evo stick - Solvent variety) , and clamping it down as glue sets. (strong crocodile or bulldog clips)

I can't get on to AndyP's site http://www.300zx.org.uk at the moment but I'm sure you would find it linked from there. Seem to remember some people take the dash out to fix it, others glue it with it in place and hold it down with blocks of wood.

Also think I've seen some aftermarket vents that are wider than stock and hold everything in place. That seemed like the best option to me!

David

Yeah, mine has ever so slightly lifted. Not going to do anything with it unless it gets worse.

Ah!

Right so it is a problem with the Z then.

Thanks for the tips guys

Ill have a look for that oversized vent...cant waste an opportunity to spend some more cash ....groan, Still it seems like a good idea

be carefull with the Wooden blocks method, it applies pressure to the windscreen when you pin it in........crack! (ask greg ;))

i have the same problem - think smithys carbon fibre vents cover it up! ;)

have a butchers in the traders forum

apart from the chocs of wood fix.....there was a post here about on a very hot day when the dash is nice n soft....expoy glue the lifted bit....then roll up an old beach towel and stuff that betwixt the glass n dash and leave overnight...hopefully you wont glue a nice strip of multicoloured cotton to the dash at the same time

HTH

Thanks for the advise guys

Has made a big job seem OK to do

Cheers
