no it wont, you'll have to give it to me instead ;)

(TBH i dont know)

I sure hope youve got 2 :D

your guru's for today about mitsubishi turbos would be NEND or LYMON

if they are the same as the TD05-16G that i bought you are one lucky b'stard - do they have an external or internal wastegate?

alex

Well he did say "a", which is why I asked ;)

I think the TD05-16G can be made to fit though - obviously he'd need two, mind.. From what I remember that's the smaller trim of the stupid-size turbo, so laggy as hell but decent power. Old-tek, though, by todays standards.

i'm feeling a little arsey this evening so i'm going to bite on this one

show me your evidence of laggy and old technoloy - or is that just a throw away comment that you have no evidence for.

my guess is the 16g is a good sized turbo for the zed - good efficiency/ maximum boost around 7,000rpm/good spool compared to the T28 and should produce over 500 horses.

which is the silly turbo you are referring to. because its common to get the 16g wheel in the 8cm housing which can also house the 18g wheel - or are you talking about the TD 06 20g ???? in which case i agree it's a silly big laggy turbo - but nothing to do with the 16g

p.s. apart from the mitsubishi TD05 the only turbos which i have been really impressed with are the garrett GT2530 ( which i'm hoping the pentroof 16g in th 6cm housing will spool as well as but generate more horses) and the HKS GT-RS and no one has dynoed this turbo yet

Apparently so.

Last time I saw dyno plots from the 16g and 18g they had significant lag, much more than the (similar) turbos they were being compared against.

And last time I checked - though it was a while ago, and I could be mis-remembering - they were plain bearings. Personally, I think roller bearings are the way forward, hence, old technology.

I'll just keep my opinions to myself in future, I guess.

interesting you say that as most GT2530 dyno's you see will be onstock manifolds, where as the 16G ones will be on greddy tubular mani's (or pentroofs!). What impresses me are the dyno's of the 2530 with aftermarket manifolds eg the dupree inconel ones. Great spool up and awesome top end.

I know a few manifolds flow more than the GD ones, but they are a pain to fit, and I like my air con :)

anyway, looking forward to seeing some good figures + spool from your setup

i agree - more dynos needed

the one thing that always made the 16g's seem so good were that they were normally supplied with tubular manifolds - still the garret t28's and t25/28 hybrids just look plain ugly

i would love to see a dyno of a car running HKS GT turbos on tubular manifolds.

alex

just a very quickie

this is a JWT 700 dual ball bearing turbo dyno from brrett

jwt%20700%20dyno.jpg

and a td05-16g average dyno complied by bernie at ooparts

td0516gcomparison.gif

the jwt 700 dyno isnt on tubular manfolds but it is on ported ones - and considering the jwt 700 is a brand new dual ball bearing turbo you can see that it produces less power, takes longer to spool and has more lag thn the suposed "old technology" misubishi TD 05-16G

p.s. there are lies damn lies and statistics - but i havnt seen anything yet that makes me think the TD 05-16G isnt a damn fine turbo

Regards,

alex

My TD05 18Gs are NOT laggy dont just take my word for it though ask Topless and PaulG

Infact Mark said I should go for 20g lol

The greddy turbos are great, the garrett turbos are great, but you can't compare them on stock (even ported) manifolds, stock manifolds and big turbos is like an asthmatic trying to breath through a straw :)

So at anything under 4500rpm it makes considerably less power than stock turbo (up to 100bhp less in some places) ?

That does'nt appeal to me, when you think that the car probably spends 80%-90% of the time at less than 4500rpm. :x:

Although guess I'd need to drive a similar setup to be able to really compare the advantages and disadvantages.....convince me :)

i do have access to 2 but im after power more down the rev range i dont want to have to rev the tits off it to get boost me im more of a torque man my self ... seeming horse power is after all a calculation from torque.. and its a big motor to be wizzin to 7g

your giving it back????????? because you dont want 2???????????

do you have any other generous friends with spare turbos in the east sussex area?
