Main beam query

Someone posted on a while ago saying if you have HIDs its a good idea to ground pins 4 and 5 of the headlamp dimmer so they do not switch on and off when you flash (this damages them at speeds) AND it also means when your main beam comes on your dipped (HIDs) stays on too.

Just done it and all worked lovely.

However. . . . .

Now all 4 will be running on main beam - isnt the extra poewr draw gonna damage something as Nissan only designed it for either dipped OR main beam on?

Cheers

Hey Jay,

How did you wire it to do that?

As for the extra power draw, I wouldn't worry about it for the following reasons:

1. dipped beam has a separate fuse to main beam

2. when you have HIDs you rarely need main beam anyway so you'll not be running for any great length of time with both on.

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

can you give us some more info on the shorting of the wires and where the dim dip unit is. many thanks

also dont HIDS have a ridiculously low draw anyway? there should be some capacity for running higher draw on the main beam as well becaue a lot of people upgrade the original b8ulbs to more powerful ones without too much hassle!
