Yes I know... I shouldnt be reading Max Power but I had nothing better to do and I was waiting for a friend so I thought I'll go browsing in WHSmith and see what has change. Not much but there was definetly an odd number of 300ZX in the mag for some reason. A huge amount actually!

There's an article about import cars and what you should get... they had 300ZX in there and listed it at from £1500. They've seem to be featuring the Z alot these days. Could this be the reason why we are having an influx of young Z drivers these days!? I'm already feeling old and I've still got a few more years before I hit my 30s! :slap:

I have noticed the chav element starting to creep into this forum, when i bought my car all those years ago they were a bit out of the chav price range but not anymore, on the plus side the chavs will only have them for so long before moving on so once again this place will be for the enthusiasts.

This is a possibility. However, I think there are a few factors that may make this only a temporary problem:

- Insurances costs: I'm 29 with 4 years NCB and it still cost me getting on for £800 to insure my TT, but there are people on here paying thousands. If you can't afford that you can't drive it. That's one good thing I'll say for ANLP systems and insurance databases: it should get harder for uninsured drivers to get away with it, so hopefully there won't be too many uninsured zeds being driven around.

- Cost of maintenance. It's not cheap even if you do it yourself, and there's not much point in skimping because it'll only cost more. From what I can tell if you don't show this car some TLC it won't get through its MOT, and if it doesn't have an MOT see my comments above re: ANLP.

- Cost of fuel. I earn a decent salary, but I don't drive much because if I did the fuel costs would kill me. 97p / litre the last time I filled up, and it cost £54. I don't want to be doing that every week. Even the NA is pretty thirsty, but the TT around town is a complete nightmare.

OK, so now here's my pet theory. If you're paying £1500 for a zed it's still quite likely to be a shed. Prices for decent ones aren't that low generally, so whilst we'll see more zeds in the short-term, they'll probably be a bit ropey. On this basis the maintenance costs will cripple their owners, because they'll have to spend ££££ to get the thing working properly, so they might be forced to scrap / break. Now this is kind of a shame, but the upshot is that the zed will become rarer again, and so maybe the value of a decent one will increase.

Or alternatively everything I've just said could be a load of tosh. ;) Take yer pick.

I agree, they bring up their cheap prices too much, they promote them for around £1500 - £2000....what's chav boy gonna get for that then? A total shed. It's going to be a few years yet I think before we see too many of them about in Barry mode.

Woz wrong wit da chav's eh homies, meez gotta zed and bit bwad boyz fast. Beetz me Xanta Turbo D mutha no probz.

you have to remember one of the favorite and well known cars on this forum has been featured in the pages of two chav mags

im not going to say who for fear of my life

(your secret is safe with me mac1 ooppss lol)

must say though i openly read those chav mags and find them quite good reading, lets face it most of us have vents in our bonnet hooge wheels, massive spoilers and so on, only difference is that we have the power and the status with our zeds to pull it off

Grrrrrr, that advert is soooooo infuriating! Why do people insist on calling their car a she or a he?? Makes them sound dappy as fook and does nothing for the listing in the slightest!

Why is that one so cheap? Why are they so cheap in general, that's what I'd like to know. Only owned mine a week, but for a £5k car, you'd think I was driving a Masserati the way people gawp at it and make comments about it.

i hate the fact that gto's seem to hold their price and the zed doesnt

why is this, in my eyes and probably everyone elses the zed is a much better car

pmsl muppet!

i dont think much will come of it to be honest, most are after a car that they can abuse for 6 months and look well 'ard in.

the z has proven to me that it is a more sophisticated car than that, and needs to be loved!

any z owner worth their salt will find this site at some point, and it will be a turning point in their ownership - either they will love the car for what it is, and use this site to help them look after it - or they wont be on here too long because they wont like what they hear.

it may mean that a few z's get driven into the ground by young chavs, but insurance and maintenance costs should keep this number low.

when i visit smcc (one of the largest local car clubs in the uk), theres a few chav's, but most wouldnt dream of a zed - its just not one of those cars in the limelight. most drive corsa's saxos etc and want poopra's and skylarks!

if a zed had featured prominently in 2fast 2furious it might be a different story.

That was a point I made in a thread the other day. One of the reasons (amongsy many others) Why I love the zed so much. Its almost stealthy existance in a high powered Jap scene. In my eyes that almost makes it somewhat as a legend. I still don't think the zed has been properly discovered. This has been proven many a time by statements from motoring journalists claiming the zed as one of the most underrated cars ever made'.

I am so glad is wasn't featured in that film. As it is a prelude to all things chavish and Max Poop. I have watched the film and find it pretty dire, poor acting, and dreadful story line. Something I'm glad the zed was never associated with!

 amen

good statement!

i dont think the mags will make much difference - the top 3 have been feturing steer from the rear for 2-3 years with three zeds creating alot of smoke.

well they can say what they want about it, i lurve mine, as for the fast and furious there was lots of garage scenes where they could have added a zed being repaired lol

LOL, I think they left that for the Scoobies didn't they?

Ha ha, yep it's stealthy alright especially at night seeing as the headlights are that cr@p that not only can the driver NOT see where they are going but no other fooker can see ya coming!!! LMAO :)

LOL, I think they left that for the Scoobies didn't they?

ahh the scooby a real sports car NOT, at least ive managed to talk my mate out of buying one

and the punk who said his new scooby would piss all over my zed declined the proposal of a friendly race on my private test track lol

Luckily my headlights have been modded then. Have great vision on mine. :)

my eyes are so bad i can barely see the end of the bonnet, which is why ourlass goes everywhere with me (left a bit, right a bit, slow down, quick speed up great you got the little pikey lol)

Scoobs aren't a bad machine. There's just something about them that I can't stand. I yawn when I see them.

Again F&F to thank I think and their over hyped image in the Fast Crap Magazine. I've driven a few and was never that impressed. Interior is awful. Similar to a Vauxhall Nova in quality.

Just Saxo drivers next car....if you get what I mean.

oh yes sort off, i think i thank lol

know where you are coming from though

my point would be if they search and join a well respected enthusiasts club eg this one ;) then who cares what they do in there personal lives... a z lover is a z lover simple as that...

I guess, seems that dogging and racing rice rockets seems to be the latest Zed fad!

£1.5k oh dear oh dear....lots of chavs buying "Spares or Repair" Zed's

Had a flick thru Chavpower the other week (Dont worry, nobody saw me I was very carefull), and they had the stats all wrong listed for the TT

0-60 - 7.1 secs

Top speed - 148mph

Looks like they put either NA stats or the old Z31 stats by mistake.

Thought about correcting them but perhaps it will stop all the saxo boys from buying them.
