Throttle pedal has been feeling a bit notchy for past few days, then yesterday it got stuck open at 1/3 throttle and would'nt release. Bit of a scary moment.

Tried pulling it up with my foot under pedal, going thru the gears (bearing in mind I was travelling through small residential road) before switiching ignition off and pulling over.

Took a look today and found the Cam cover breather pipe did'nt seem to be sitting properly in its housing and was rubbing against the throttle lingage.

I suggest everyone also checks theirs !

Cheers, have knocked it back, and will put some loctite on it later. Suggest everyone else checks theirs, in case its slowly making its way out and getting close to linkages.

Bloody hell we need a poll to see how many more its happened to :wack:

What is the pipe, what could cause it move out of position like that, and can I knock it gently back into place ?

That is the cam oil line.

They are not meant to be able to move, but if you have moved it try moving it back. You will be able to tell if you broke it because it will leak oil.

Quoted; That is the cam oil line.

No it is a breather hose for the cam cover

Couldn't understand why these breather hoses just pop out when I rebuilt my last engine. Seemed odd that the seal would be good enough? They don't seem to be fastened at all, just sitting in their space. Dave

This is what they call an interference fit (whacked in :D ). This is a common problem due to the engine heating up and cooling down, the breather pipe cools quicker than the cam cover casing, Thus leaving it smaller than the cover. :wack:

cheerz, mickey

Happened to me to ! WHen i went to collect my import from Southampton, had writing all over it "DO NOT DRIVE- REVS STRAIGHT TO 6000RPM" and when i checked it over it was this problem. Pushed it back in - no troublr since.

it aint happened to me but im going to check the ******* 2mora

Too right, same here. Not a thing I'd like to happen.

Well done for posting this Legrath.

Hasn't happened to me and i'm not checking it.

I like the buzz of a near miss  :D

as the pic shows there is also a rubber hose with clamps either end if you release clamp and press breather back in relaese clamp it should hold it in fine

Yep, John Dixon sorted mine ages ago - mine had started to drift out but had not actually caused the problem yet - He put some gasket sealant (i think?) and pushed it in - I didnt notice it - he did

Thats scary shit ill check mine as soon asap......

Know how you feel!

Mine jammed at full accelleration, so I had to turn the iginition off pull onto the side of the road and force pull the cable back down

Mines slightly different to yours though, where the return springs are on the throttle the bearings underneath the springs have disintergrated on one side and massively cracked on the other!!!

Zeds hey, aren't they fun! :D
