Hi Jon,

Welcome to the forum!

As you've entered a 300ZX site I'm sure you'll get a totally impartial view of what car is better  :nono: Ahem!

Anyway, the ZX is essentially a reliable car if looked after but as with any high performance car of 10-15 years old things will go wrong and they are usually costly to put right. Buy a good one though and you will be pleased with it.

UK cars were the TT targa 2+2 only imports have more choice (SWB, N/A, etc).

Stats for the TT are:

Insurance group is 18

Power 280-300bhp

0-60 in 5.5, 0-100 in 14.5 top end restricted to 155 on UK cars

Unless the suspension is shagged (and theses are heavy cars remember) handling is fine. Not as sharp as the Supra but more involving and better feel.

Grip can vary so much depending on what tyres are fitted - fit Goodyears or the like and cornering ability/stability can be transformed.

Running costs can be high as the ZX has a healthy appetite for fuel and rear tyres but no more than a Supra

The ZX is better looking of course and better value at the moment but the Supra is slightly quicker (UK Soops can do 0-100 in 12) and easier to tune for big BHP

Drive both and make your choice ;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Insurance is quite low for the type of car (group 18 I think) do a search as there as been lots of discussion lately and quotes. Handling is good for the size, lots of feedback and a good all round feel. Power is turbo auto 280hp manual 300hp, don't know what the NA is. Running costs are probably higher than the mr2 I'd imagine. 15-25 mpg depending on how its running/setup. Tyre front around 235-245, rears 245-wide ass which are quite expensive if you get the good ones (which you should)! Reliability depends on what you get, theres lots to go wrong but if you get a good one they are very reliable. Get an abused one and you'll have a nightmare. So good idea to buy off the forum if you can so you can check the history. Dave

cheers guys..im goin to look around, and test drive a few

Were abouts in essex are you, we could meet up, there are a few of us in essex and i'm sure they will be willing to give you some advice or even look over a car for ya.

..........!!

Yes they are.

Although some companies now do not charge more to insure imports, many people still find that insuring an N/A can cost more than a UK spec TT

Do a search here for insurance threads.
