Just wondering. What bike did you have when you were young?

Just a silly thought. What classic bike did you have when you were younger. Grifter, Chopper, Budgie etc....... I believe Choppers are worth alot nowerdays. :)

When I was young we couldnt afford bikes, best I could hope for was a stick and lump of coal. Aye we were poor.

We were that poor we use to eat the mushrooms of the back of the pantry door !!!

I can only remember my motorbikes. Honda ss125J. then a Suzuki TS125. then a Suzuki GT250M (ramair). after that the list just grew and grew.

Yer, was looking at one today in the NAAFI over here

I had a Budgie in light blue when i was younger, mental wheelie bike. Then i had a Grifter when I was older, then bought my mates Chopper. All realy good bikes i enjoyed all of them.

Grifter weighed in about the same as a Corsa and had the 0 - 30 time of a zimmer but it looked kewl at the time.

I remember the Chopper, it was the one with a small front wheel, dont think I ever heard of the other two :)

I think the one when i was 8 was called the "Chipper" it was a baby Chopper and when i got older i got a chopper, cant remember the colour of the chopper i think an orangey colour but the chipper was purple!!

Not a chipper but a TOMAHAWK thats the very fella!!!

PMSL

True though - looked the nuts in electric blue but weighed a tonne compared to the BMXs that succeded them, yet looked quite similar ;)

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Had a 'Raleigh Boxer'. It was a mini Grifter. Kind of.

I remember them, were they yellow?

At the time the grifter WAS the bmx of the U.K. Only rich kiddies in the U.K. had a bmx in those days!!

I had a 'Striker'. That was like a mini Grifter too. Picked up an old Chopper a few years ago but its at the bottom of my garden, outside, getting more and more rusty.

Had a Shwinn BMX not that long ago! I'm just a big kid really. Still got a skateboad.

Wish I still had my chopper, it was a limited edition in deep purple with 5 gears instead of 3, it'd probably be worth quite a bit now.

LMAO I had a budgie. The crank used to crack me up. When you pedalled it hard and fast (ooer missus) it used to make a lackatack lackatack sound!! priceless memories just came flooding back. :D I think there was a striker too...

And when I was a tiny kid, I had a Bobcat :D :D lmao.. then there was the Raleigh Gold burner a few years later....... with stupid pedal-back brakes... many a guffaw to be had over a kid riding one of those for the first time ;)

yeah i used to have a penny farthing after an upgrade from me old bone shaker lol

did have a chopper once and one of those mini grifter things till me dad chopped it up to make a towbar for his lada estate

oh how the old times rolled lol (listen to me im only 26 ha ha)

I had a Raleigh Champ, Raleigh Sunbeam - that broke in two while I was riding it - and a Raleigh Grifter in silver. I thought it was cool but then they bought out BMX's!

Get the Stella open I'm on my 2nd ...

Always wanted one of those cool bikes, but my old man hated them, so "we couldn't afford it" Me and a mate ended up building our own out of bits when we could afford them, but they were 'race' bikes, with alloy frames and I fitted Shimano running gear to mine (my mate had more money so he used some make called Campagnolo)

Certainly used them a lot though! I used to live in Hammersmith & Fulham and we often used to cycle down to Brighton or over to South End for the day (over 130 mile round trip!!!! )

I bet a Grifter or a Chopper would have fallen apart before we got half way there!

I had a Raleigh Tomahawk (like a small Chopper but without the gears) and then a Grifter (the world's heaviest BMX) and then a 'proper' 12 speed racer (seat like a razor blade).

Now I've got two of these: http://www.hotmover.com

They did re-launch the Chopper a while back, but had to move the gearstick off the crossbar because of "Health & Safety".

Wish I still had my chopper

I bet your missus does aswell
