Received my illuminated kick plates today (thanks Paul and Vijay) but because my car is a slicktop im not sure how to wire it up. I dont think i can thread the wires to the interior light, is there anywhere else i can connect it up? Im not good with electronics so will need an idiots guide to fit it :slap:

I wish i was bud, but the car isnt going anywhere without a thermostat/water pump/fan/radiator etc etc

Hello mate,

Just posted this yesterday:

Right, been looking into this today and it might help to wire the inverter directly near the relay which is located in the rear passenger side panel. Hopefully this will help reduce the buzzing as it will be behind a panel and away from earshot

1. remove rear seat.

2. remove screw holding passanger side panel down and unclip panel enough to be able to reach in.

3. There are 4 wires on the relay, connect the red wire of the inverter to the red/black wire of the relay and the black wire of the inverter to the red/white wire of the relay.

Would one of you guys who found the inverter located in the head panel a little noisy try this and let me know how you find it

Cheers

Just went to do this and noticed that the red/black wire is constantly live and the red/white wire is live when the door is shut, I am no good with electrics but thought I was looking for red black to be live when door is open and the other to be an earth point?

Hello mate,

The red/white wire is earthed when the door is open :)

Vijay

Hi Vijay, the inverter is no quieter when it is wired up to the relay but once everything is back in it is not as noticable as when it was in the roof lining, saying that the slight hum was never a real problem so its staying there. Did notice that I am getting an electrical shock when I get out of the car now though, I know the wiring I have done it all good so it could be anything.

SuffolkZX, electric shock? not sure how this could be from the inverter. What part of the car are you touching when you get a shock???

Right, I finally got round to doing these this afternoon.

Pretty straightforward actually. I also wrapped the invertor in some foam to dull any noise and made sure it, and the connector, were insulated with PVC tape. Don't want any shocks.

They look fookin' ace!!

I'll probably be going out later to see it after dark LOL!
