Well after spending hooooooooooooooooge amounts of zedtonions on a decent skyline gtr brake upgrade i figured I needed a brake brace to match.

Ive seen the strut braces with one built in and liked the extra strength this had over the normal brake braces around but was looking for saving weight in the future and already had a strut brace so I needed a seperate unit.

Well my engine buildng buddy was good enough to spare some of his time on saturday to design and make one up for me in the name of bLiNg

He chose an all alloy machined body with a pivoted Stainless Steel pressure plate to ensure maximum and even spread of pressure onto the brake cylinder but no wear on the piviot point.

The brace has a right angled ridge on it to stop any flexing or twisting on the mounting location as it applys the force to the strut mounting.

Above all its bLiNg

Not really mate....(depends on how tight you set it  )

All it does is stops the whole unit(air servo and master cylinder) from being pushed forward when you brake hard.

It meerely takes out all the excess play in the system and mounts to give you a more constant feel to the pedal...I doubt it actually improves the brake performance...its just for the firmer feel and no play.

Afterall if you fit decent calipers/pads and hoses then every little helps ;)

Being delivered/fitted this week bud so hang tight.... :smash:

I will be carrying out some little tests to see what the difference will be for things like 60-0mph and 100-0mph and will be posting the results up.

Allthough i expect them to be an instant improvement over the standards I think they'll be noticably more effective on a serious session of track time.

What pads you putting in them. I've got some of Frodo Baggins Competion pads and they take some warming up so I'm looking for something a bit more Fast road with some kind of feel from cold ish. though the boys on the Skyline board are saying the New Ferodo pads really are the muts and work well from cold without leaving nine ton of brake dust all over your wheels

Will have to see how I get on with them once their fitted...

I've tryed a few and the best I've used so far and will proberbly go back to are the Mintex 1155 compound. They are quite dusty though.

I need to decide on which pads and discs as well, letting the second hands settle for a while but I reckon they are warped. I can feel the stopping difference already though even with these. Only problem is when I stop hard the vibration shakes my steering wheel loose. They really do look the dogs danglies , I can't stop looking at them!

RIGHT....

seeing as theirs a few interested in this unique brake brace I will be posting a new thread soon chaps ;)

I must state and will also include in the new thread that:-

I have spoken to MAC1 about this as I want this to be above board for everyones sake :)

This is a non-profit making exercise although my petrol and time will be covered for in the development and testing on several Zeds before release including the cost that the cnc machinist will incur.

The product is a different design/build/material/price to others currently on offer.

This will be a one off for the love of Zeds and will NOT be repeated.

In the new thread (which I will put a link on here for when posted) their will be a price posted including delivery along with an estimated time of manufacture.

Being tested on several Zeds this will fit straight on but in the event that there is a indescrepency in fitting locations then I will happily pay return postage and modify the required adjustments at no extra cost to your selfs

I would appreciate it if all those still interested could post on the new thread when posted to show there interest to the product within.

I am currently seeking a price and estimated time on production and delivery from the producer and will let you all know asap :duffer:

If there are any questions please feel free to ask and I will post some more pictures where needed

I hope all are happy by this as I just want to spread bLiNg and not bad feelings so Zed on Zedsters...lol :nana2:

good lad! ;)

I could be interested too Steve......How do these differ from Danny @ DTA's version though ? (stronger, cheaper ?)

errrmmm..cheaper...no...lol

I could cut some 5mm sheet steel and bend it but that would be copying :x:

These will be made from a single piece of alloy much thicker and with a right angled shape along the strut mount to exert the force onto the strut as well as the mounting locations to reduce twisting.

The pressure point in contact with the master cylinder (Stainless Steel cap) has a much wider area coverage compared to others I have seen and also has a pivioted head to ensure true allignment on the master cylinder unit for a greater load disipation.

If you take a peek at the pictures at the begining of this thread you may be able to see what I mean...

I will get some more pictures posted up of the right angle design I am speaking off and the pivioted head.

These units (depending how tight you set them)will reduce all movement in the air servo unit and master cylinder unit ;)

HTH bud :duffer:
