Im not having a good night tonight, RAC man came round and started my car :dance: ....But as this is the first time Ive taken my car out in the dark I have never tested the lights. On the thrid click my main lights do not come on, only my side lights come on? The second problem is, when I pull away or when im at low revs my car makes a funny noise like a heat shied or something like that.

 

Should I take it back to the garage I bought it from?

What do you think that noise it when I pull away at low revs....

Light bulbs could be blown, or a fuse gone. Check them in the morning when you can see what your doing.

Noise could be anything.

You need to try to trace the area its coming from. It could just be something needs tightening, like an exhaust shield or something.

My cars a jap import and for some reason there is a pull switch on the side of the control cluster which switches on the main lights, maybe yours is the same.....

The heat sheild around the exhaust/cat quite often is loose and rattles at low revs, particularly if there is an aftermarket pipe fitted, as a lot of garages just cut it leaving the ends loose

Mine made the same noise..I got under and it was the exhaust shield rubbing on the back of the Muffler..bent it out the way a bit and its fine!

OK an update, checked my fuse box and the L and R light buld fuse relays where missing, god knows how it passed its MOT. The noise could me a heat sheild which I need to get under the car and confirm. I may of been done by a doody import dealer dont you think....

You will probably have to get bulb upgrades as the jap bulbs are crap. I know I have seen how to do a bulb upgrade somewhere on here. Look for the link on 300zx.org.uk. Loads of useful stuff on that site.

 

Oh and I would take it back to the dealer to sort it out. You should atleast have working headlights and I think that relays can be expensive.

Only minor problems though....lights and a rattle.

 

Heat sheilds work themselves loose. In test drive, mine was rattling around big style. Mine were the turbo heat sheilds though.
