What sort of mileage are 300zx twin turbos good for? I was looking at a H reg 1990 but its done 180,000 miles. Full service history.

thats a lot of milaege but with fsh should be ok, watch out for knackered tubs with this amount of milaege

I would personally look for a car with lower mileage and fsh, a sports car with 180,000 will be showing wear in every component.

Of course it also matters how much it is aswell? If its a tenner then its a bargain but if its £4500 it isnt. How much do they want for it mate

hi mate ive got a ztt for sale, the engines got 70k miles on it and at the moment its in a garage getting the whole engine checked whilst the head gaskets are being done im looking for £2995.00 its a lwb (2+2) black and totally standard with black leather interior. i looked at it from underside whilst on the ramp and not a spec of rust NE where. call me 07940 375354 if interested

hello matey, would you be the rebel asking about head gasket probs on my quickshift auction on ebay?

welcome fella!!!

should be able to get all the advice you need on here - especially if ya subscribe! ;)

viniboy, They are asking £3000 for it, i think thats a lot for that mileage on a h plate.

rebel, is it a uk car, cant insure an import. Any pics?

Well mate, My advice would be to get a less milage more expensive car? I would recommend it if it came from a subscribed member from this club because you can more or less be sure its as described. otherwise mate. Its your funeral as they say?

Yeah cheers m8, im gona hold out 4 the right one. Aint in no mad rush, cant wait to get one tho.

I'd steer clear personally. Too many unknowns at that milage.

I picked mine up with 55k on the clock for just £1900 more.

just got a message from my mechanic the water pump and timing is done and all the gaskets have been replaced all i need now is a pair of tub HELP SOMEONE OUT THERE sell a poor man some tubs for peanuts already spent 1900 on engine rebuild.

the engine is out of the car is there any way of testing the turbos independantly of the engine? the mechanic said he cant be 100% sure the tubs are blown but there is oil around the seals.HELP???????????pls pls pls

With that mileage, how you gonna sell it when the time comes?

Running costs MUST factor in depreciation and your selling price with a car at that mileage is gonna be enormous.

I wouldn't have that mileage.

Sad to see a Zed have to go to the scrappy though as nobody will buy it becuase of the mileage, when it could be perfectly fine without any form of rebuild :(

How much for it un fixed or should I say as it is.

Legrath - agree with you.

Should also state that most modern cars should be able to run forever IF looked after.

BUT - buyers still have the Cortina mentality - back in the day, you buy a Cortina, expect it to last 100k mils before it starts costing serious money.

Most buyers still have the 100k mileage barrier. Stupid, but true.

I have owned high and low mileage cars.

Only difference I felt was the way they had been cared for.

Rebel, nowt wrong with 70k miles generally speaking, but I was answering the original pst referring to a car that had covered 180k miles.

:)

A black one.....

I take it its an import being that theres no rust on it?

Got no rust on my uk Zed :wack:

how will i know if its an import. pls dont say it should be on the registration docs.

I would have had it but my so called New ACT clutch has just gone pop so I've got to spend more than half that figure on a New Exedy Carbon Alloy Twin plate clutch.

Had a good call from my mate Chris in France though it was very informative.

So sorry two days on and i'm no longer in the market. My missus would go belistick if I had two dead Zeds at once  :nono: :nono: :slap:

P.S. is it manual?

yes mate its a manual. looks like knight rider except for the fact there isnt an annoying ba***rd always talking to you all the time most of the time its a mate on the passanger seat. nice quote "i asked barcaly card....." big LOLs
