The car I'm getting has had an aftermarket steering wheel fitted, now it's an early one. Seen a number of cars in member's rides also with after market wheels.

Since the early ones have the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel, what happens to the system when you fit an after market wheel? I see that airbag versions do not have these buttons, so is there a mod you do to convert the buttons to run another way?

Also, do all TTs come with cruise control?

Mine has the c.c. removed. Buttons are on the steering wheel if i want to put it in but not really interested. IMO its the same as auto boxes. Handy for chilling but I'd rather be more involved and enjoying the drive.

Don't know if they all have it, but I've never seen one without it.

Dave.

PS Are you sorted for checking the car out?

Cheers Dave, I would like to get it working if it's not working via another method. How do the newer ones work? Is there a seperate stalk for the CC on airbag models?

Well, Richard Smith is up for giving it a once over as well. Sent a message to Gio as well, the more the merrier. Both are local chaps to the place anyway.

Could ALMOST be a mini Zed meet......hehe

Anyone know anything about the cruise control on airbag models? Sorry for the dumb question, I am a zed noob.

UK ones didnt have airbags I dont think. I think they where only availiable from 1994 onwards.

I cant see people removing the CC system because they have a new wheel. They most probably just cut the CC button wires and leave them behind the wheel. If so all you need is 3 normal buttons to replace them with. Maybe try get some buttons from a standard car and move them to the steering column

My zed is 1995 tt jap import and has NO cruise control... dont want it either i enjoy tearin up the tarmac up and down the gears (manual by the way) oh and airbag
