Also...

Reports are also coming in that a mosque in the east of the capital has been surrounded by armed officers and residents told to stay indoors

Sounds like the police must have good leads on yesterdays bombers. Good on 'em. ...Its goin to be interesting if a mosque is sheltering them though

when the British police put their minds to it they are great , its just a pity they have become stealth tax collectors for tony blah ..........

I dont think the police's ability to deal with these w4nk3rs has ever been in question. Its good to see that they will not have it anymore. lets hope they keep it up until they stop planting bombs and if I hear anyone slate the old bill for killing an innocent Terrorist I will shoot them myself. :smash:

"DOAWAYWITHDOGOODERS"

apparently they floored him first then unloaded 5 shots at point blank range on the *******

we need more of this kind of stuff

Crime would vanish

yeah lets hope he was a bomber....IIRC the police shot a guy dead in london who was going home with a chair leg under his arm who had come out of a pub after a drink...:(

Good on 'em! If a bunch of ARMED police try to stop you, it's not a good idea to do a runner. Can't outrun a bullett :D

If he's not one of the bombers, then he is obviously a complete fakwit and we're better off with him out of the gene pool anyway.

well if he wasnt a terrorist then if the real terrorists hadn't bombed us then he would still be alive? So who's to blame? if he was a terrorist then anyone from he's community could be a terrorist? so here we have a justifiable killing and when they bring he's body out everyone should cheer just like they do when one or more of us dies as a direct result of their Executions.

Mr Winston Churchill will now be turning in he's grave.

I think he pointed it at them undr his coat and said something to the effect of "i'm going to shoot you with my shotgun"

can't blame them for that.

Also what if this person was someone sent out by terrorist to be killed by the police, and it turns out he was an "innocent" asian student but in reality he had a mission to be killed by the police to spread properganda.

Not wishing to play devils advocate here, but I don't think we do. 5 shots at point blank seems a little excessive to me. If he is one of the terrorists and there was a threat to life (police and/or others) then that threat needs to be neutralised. Maybe it was heat of the moment, maybe some of the shots missed, but we don't want to see police in court accused of murder/unessessary force etc. when they should be out catching these *******s.

yeah one eye witness described what looked like a bomb belt - I reckon 5 shots is a good effort to ensure that any serious threat to innocent lives was neutralised. If there was an innocent explanation for the guy havin wires comin out from his belt - he shouldn't have legged it into a crowded subway in an attempt to get away - and should have put his hands in the air.

NOT in favour of similar force against lesser immediate threat though - in those cases, arrest, trial and sentence is the only fair way!!!

Am pleased to see the apparent progress bein made by those in charge of the investigation of the first and second (attempted) wave of bombings tho!! Good on them (although the personal ID and travel documents carried by the first attackers must have helped somewhat!!).

Am more impressed to see the way in which the emergency services and security services have reacted to both events though - I wasn't in the middle of it, but a lot of my colleagues were (several stories of colleagues leavin a subway and hearing the explosion seconds later) - and the communication and direction provided by the authorities seems to have been outstanding!!!

All imo obviously ;)

It was just said on Sky News that why are they refered to as Muslim terrorists and not just terrorists? That from some called Trevor Stewart or something? He's name sounds pretty "British" to me. WTF.

Here we go then: If a group of "white terrorists" were to come to light but wanted to be recognised so they wear RED T SHIRTS to make a statement. then anyone wearing a RED T SHIRT would be watched. Yes? no need to go on then?

I don't in any way want to appear to condone excessiveness, just want to give an informed opinion from a Royal Marine. The police man involved didn't have the luxury of taking chances. If a policeman/security forces professional is forced to shoot (and I'm sure they had good reason to do so) then 5 shots is not excessive. It's an unfortunate fact that the situation required that action, one bullet would probably neutralise the threat, but you dont mess around when the person could be about to shoot back or (and a very real threat) set off a belt of explosive to kill all people in the area.

Well said Dave. The police officer would have followed a set protocol and to have pulled the trigger would have been a last resort. As you said one shot is not sufficient to ensure safety of the public and other officers. They are highly trained and part of the training would to fire several rounds.

Saved us the cost of a trial for that scum.

It's no great loss - the fekker was a suicide bomber anyway so he had already planned to die.

I'm just glad the police got him before he killed more innocent people.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

doubt it was the police, seems more like military, remember the three in Malta. thought they would have emptied the clip

i say good on them too. we need a bit more of that - cops shooting bad guys. they said on the news they were low-velocity bullets which are designed to increase the possibility of non-fatality - as unfortunately chest shots are likely to detonate any explosives that would-be bombers could be wearing - so armed police are told to aim for the head and shoot several times!

Yep travel somewhere in the region of 1000 feet per second. Should do the job. Ok so the bloke could be carrying a bomb he could set off by putting a hand in pocket. What ya gona do ??

five or twenty as long as it gets the job done there is no such thing as over kill how long will the adverage joe who wants to to live a pease full life keep putting up with this could be my wife kids people in power need to make sure that they do the nessasery or people will look for revenge its human nature

I thinks thats actually not true. High velocity are more likely to pass straight through whereas low velocity are more likely to 'wobble' so to speak and go pinging round the body. Not that its going to help a head with pavement behind but it has been known. Heard about someone who had one pass through his head, and survived! I spend more time braking computers than people by the way!

   sounds painful. i dont care what velocity they are as long as they hurt and kill (the dirtbags)

Penny finally drops with senile old judges: "oh yeah... we dont have to spend hundreds of thousands of pounds inprisoning him... cool! "
