I hate autotrader website....can never work out to get the URL from an individual advert.

Anyway, just called this chap (white one at the bottom of the page, 18's etc). Bloke didn't even know the car I was talking about...then he said I needed to speak to his brother....then he told me the car wasn't even in the country yet!!

Sounds dodgy?

He;s an Importer, quite common for them to advertise them while still in Japan. Although if you wanted to get one imported, I would use well known Large Importer with recomendations.

I'm aware of that, just seems odd to advertise when it's not going to be in the country for another month (his words).

That example is stunning and low milage. I'd go and grab a zedder from here and have a butchers at it this weekend if it was in the country...grrrrr what to do, what to do.

Legrath, where abouts in Somerset are you? Would very much like to come and have a look round your zed...

Dag namit!! What shall I do chaps? It's a grade 4 import, low milage, will have 3 months warranty.....do I go and wack a deposit down now?? EEEEEEEEK

Help help help.

Puriton, just of J23 M5. Its in bodyshop at moment, then off to JAE tomorrow....you going ? It really is the event not to miss!

Just think...80+ Zed's all lined up together :D

PMSL! Best mate lives in Bilgewater near Puriton...how come I've NEVER seen you car...

I'll have to miss JAE...pretty gutted, would like to go. Right, well more than likely going to wack a holding deposit on this as a bit of a gamble. Would you be interested in coming along to Slough next week with me and helping me check the car over? Get get any 'nasties' fixed then if there is anything wrong with it.

Well, I am probably going to gamble a holding deposit on this one tomorrow....kinda scared...

How much holding deposit are you putting down? is it refundable? I'd recommend well known importers with good reps as it's easy to make a photo look good. Does look nice though.

£100....so I 'could' live without. It's listed as being 'grade 4'. Which apparently means it's very very tidy. It has low milage and is EXACTLY what I am looking for.

Sounds positive then. Newera's import site have good details about the auction grading system. Can you get any more photos from Japan side? You're going to be jumping with excitement I can see!!

I sure am...but scared also. For some reason the cars scare me...especially doing something like this.

I will indeed have a good look at it before I do hand over all the money...will 'try' and take a zedder along with me...I'll have to ask legarth or mrogers if they'd like to come along with me. :)

I'll probably subscribe tomorrow as well....head's in the clouds whirlwind style....

Can't get any photos from the Jap side....the guy on the phone actually got it wrong. It arrives in Southampton tomorrow....I spoke to the actual owner of http://www.import-ance.co.uk and he seems quite a nice chap, well spoken etc.

You will definetly want to check out the customs and importing rules and costs..they can really kill a good deal..I went to Japan last year and the cars are cheap and good quality no doubt however getting them here can be expensive doing it on your own let alone giving a importer a cut as well..but if its a must have then you should get a good example as the Japanese look after their motors.

Japan is super cheap for cars..Im going to live there next year and the choice is amazing for cars...If you can get a japanese autotrader they are fantastic..about the size of a yellow pages and thousands of cars..give you a idea of the true costs of the cars

I'm buying through a dealer, it comes fully registered, serviced taxed and mot'd. :)

Perfectly normal practice. It does look nice.

I imported a gen 7 TRD celica for my wife two years ago and it took 3 months to get here and when you test drive it. If your not happy or anything wrong with it then you get your deposit back. If it has got a grade 4 certificate you can get a copy of that and rest assured if its grade 4 its a sound car, if it's 5 its Brand new so 4.5 is mint.

only days im free to help you mate is mondays, otherwise i would,as mark says grade 4 sounds a good example ;)

Greg, depending on my movements over the coming days will depend on what day I go. More than likely be the weekend, but may end up being a Monday. Will let you know. Thanks a lot.:)
