hello Ladies and Gents,

I have been involved in alot of jap cars but never had a 300zx. I have recently sold off my american cars.. (which I loved !!!) and gone back to jap.. before anyone makes any funny jokes.. I am american.. but in the uk...

 

So not having a zx before I have MANY questions...

I suppose I should tell you details..

1993 ZX Fairlady imported from Japan. 51K in miles now... it has a induction kit..(apexi) a single large silly exhaust.. you know which one.. and a few other mods.. its manual 5 speed and thats all i really know.

I want it to go faster.. its slow as heck from 0-60... or so it seems.

i think its restricted but am not sure as i had it past 115mph.. legall of cours.. (yeah right)

So what can I do... Who do I go to.. Who will rip me off. you know the drill. Who has bits kicking about. Where can I start my journey in my modding world.

For Performance....With exhaust and filter done, its time for Chip and boost increase (either via Boost jets or Boost controller)

 

Although IMO..uprate the Brakes and suspension first.

 

....but if you feel its really slow 0-60 currently, then there is a good chance something is wrong (stock is about mid 5.5secs). Most likely in safety mode. Perform an ECU check.

mine is not a turbo. so its a 6 second car.. from 0-60..

it feels much slower than my camaro which was doing 8.5 quarter mile

 

no turbo.. so chipping sounds good.

then i guess nos.. and jetting.

 

am considering getting larger manifolds. etc.. and de catting the bugger.

 

pps peeps.. i paid!!!! not a slouth...

so will wait for my welcome to zeds forum and zed club pack!!!!

It would be slower than 8.5 qtr mile time is that an american 8.5second time or a uk one :rofl:

what kind of car were you in at york dragway? i was there in my red zed couple of months back when there were alot of american cars doing there stuff!

I was in a red and black chevy camaro.. it had centerline wheels the bonnet was off when racing.. (need air to help cool) twin exhaust out the sides... strait through pipes.. very loud...

there was also a yellow camaro (older) about 1970's.... that was running very low 9's.

and a couple of dare i say... boy racers... that one I was impressed with was a clio... but not like any other... it had 2 engines... and was quick as heck.

 

as per the previous post.. I know what you mean about coughing up money.. however when you join on a forum.. you have to expect to join.. no pressure .. but i was going to anyway.. i have given my money.. and i got my reciept... how long is it before you get details that you can access other areas of this site???

 

Anyway.. what type of bhp can i expect with a non turbo...

if i need to change crank shaft pistons and rebor i willl..... tappets.. springs. all part of the usual.

Well please let me know.. I really want to get this going.. and I want to meet up with anyone who is local ish... i am near hull so any advice is a BIG help;.

 

 

I am really into drag racing.. But I am keen to give drifting a try.

can this be incorporated... as drift suspension is much differant than drag suspension.. or so i think.

 

pps.. those time i posted were my very best.. my engine and gear box suffered Alot to the point that it was critical hence my new project.... can put that much power in a tpi corvette engine.. and expect it to be reliable... anyway car sold....

z is going to be modded.

TBH even some of the modded turbos only get 13 sec qtr mile so an NA will struggle to get near the 9's. there are a few on here wit NA that drag em, i think there is a thread dedicated to the tuning of NA's. Im sure on of the NA regulars will be on to point u in the right direction soon.

oh yes.. i am a member now.. just waiting for my details... i gotta be one of the quickest members on here... and NOT about my car... because within 10 min of viewing this site i had already forked over my hard earned cash (yeah right to hard earned) via paypal and subscribed via the link...

And I know jap cars are better built than american so you gotta be able to get at least 9 seconds... quarter mile.... if not i will cry... and no one wants to see that...

 

pistons. bore. crank shaft, tappets, manifold, fly wheel, etc.. all gotta get done..and at least 2 bottles of nos... maby even put a single turbo in... but have it custom made ... hmmmm so much.. and only at the begining of my adventure..

Like I have done 10,000 posts without being a member.

 

I have paid £40 for being a member for 2 years. I have also been a "Member" for over 4 years.

 

I have dont my bit for the club of paying up and organising 3 events I think is now!
