My Uk 1993 TT has a head gasket problem and I just wondered how much it would be worth in this condition. It's a series 2, in really good condition, leather is immaculate, brand new turbo's,standard car, original nissan mats and targa covers, no mods, full service history with nissan manuals etc. I've spent over £1500 on it recently and can't really afford to spend any more. Any one any thoughts?

i had gasket probs when i got mine. cost £1500 for a replacement low mileage engine to be fitted.

i would take a guess (and it only is a guess so no one bite me head off if you disagree!!) that about £2500ish would be a "fair" price.

mind you would it not be better for you to repair and then sell as it would likely sell quicker and possibly for more?

gaz.

I know that fixing the head would be the best answer but the problem I have is getting the cash to pay to fix it! I just haven't got it. Just thought I'd sound things out as to how much the car is worth to try and cut my losses.

Are the turbo's stock replacements or upgraded ones?

stock turbo replacements, cars done 73,500 miles

Recently had the same dilemma with my old one mate. I got a loan to put a new engine in and ended up buying a new zed instead! Problem is if a car can be bought working for 4-5k then a broken one that needs 2.5k spent isn't going to be worth too much. My 1989 one had a knackered bottom end and got £1300 with BBS alloys. Head gasket problems would probably be a cheaper rebuild and yours is a newer model with leather so hopefully would be worth more. But buyers may argue that they need a new engine instead of a rebuild. There were a couple of people on here who were very interested in mine a few weeks ago but got outbid. They were going to rebuild. Maybe they'd make an offer for yours that would be worthwhile? I'll pm them about yours so they can speak to you.

Cheers mate, appreciate that. Would love to keep hold of her really   been told from a reliable source that it's could be easily sorted but it's the labour charge for taking the engine out that I can't afford. If someone could do it thereselves they'd be laughing.

bottom end can be done whilst engine is still in,not practical as iv done it but doable, head gasket needs full removal and strip down so more timely to do

TBH if you sell it with HG problems then most people will be put off, where as you sell it rebuilt it will attract a larger crowd of interest

with engine damage £2000-2500

rebuilt £5000 so maybe worth shedding the extra money and making more money in the long run, just my 2p worth.

regards greg

z-tech can do your head gasket for approx 1200 inc water bypass gasket set and heads skimmed ;)
