have seen a really nice one for sale near london, just had cambelt changed for 60k service and looks really tidy and dealer says last owner was an older gentleman (bound to i suppose)

Phil,

Unless you have got an unlimited pile of cash, buy a members car on here and save yourself thousands in the long run ;)

best thing to do is to get someone from this site to have a look at it with you, im sure there will be someone in glasgow willing to help(may pay you to get subscribed first though)

Unless like me, you buy a members car and spend nearly a grand just putting faults and bodywork right... :headvswal

Bud, take care. Is there any service history? Is it an import or uk. The reason i ask is that there are different things to look out for on either sort. i.e bodywork, mileage. Get talkin to some of the lads on here and they will give guidence (at a fee) LOL. Search the forum cus there are lots of answers flying around. Good Luck

I bought mine from a dealer and is a H reg been fairly lucky with mine but like the guys say there has been a few things wrong with it and spent a bit of money getting things right.

Definately try to get one off a member mate, probably would have had some of the inevitable work done on it. Also you can check all the history on the forum. I bought my last one privately for 4k a year ago and spent 2k on it, I've just sold it on ebay for £1300 as the engine has gone and I havnt got the facilities or motavation to pump more money into it even though otherwise it was a very smart car (Was going to pay for a recon engine but got a very nice new one off a member instead!). Hopefully the new owner who is in the trade will get it running again and become a member. After 60-70k things such as the turbos, gearbox, and other bits are all possible problem areas.
