Just don't go near NTL mate, trust me on that! They are absolute shite! My Aussie mate tried to get them to provide him with broadband and left him with a modem that didn't work from day 1!!! mad.gif

Two months down the line after numerous phone calls, being kept on hold for HOURS at a time they finally send someone out! To replace his duff modem with another duff modem, makes me laugh. Why don't they test this gear before making you sign on the dotted and leave???

Oh yeah, and when he finally got arsed off beyond belief and told them he wanted to cancel and go with BT, they agreed to cancel his request for broadband! But coz he'd gone for the package deal which includes your land line aswell, they told him that he's locked in for 12 months as part of the contract!!! FFS!!! Since when do you have a contract for a land line into your house?

NTL? You are complete muppet wankers IMHO!!!

Somebody posted a lovely letter to them a while back on the 200 site! Class! biggrin.gif

BTW - on the 12 month contract thing.. If you get Home Highway from BT (ISDN2e basically) then that is on a 12 month minimum term too.. Just FYI..

Yeah, I have it smile.gif It's far better normal dial-up. Trust me, you wouldn't regret getting it. I don't think I could ever go back.

i think the elusive fingerpig has it to but boo hoo sob sob its not available in my area yet

I have Blueyonder!

It varies from area to area I think, because you work on small local servers.

When I frist got it, it was fantastic, but then it went down hill for a few months. Having days off line every now and then, having to click on a link about 10 times before it did anything.

But now it has got back to normal. I think they have been working hard installing stuff.

I does go down every now and then and even then its not for long.

I download on average 65kb a sec, That means I can get songs in about 40 seconds.

Its not perfect but better than what I have heared from BTOpenworld.

And at £25 a week, cheaper than most too.

Ive got Home Highway/ISDN2, can't get broardband down here in the stix frown.gif It took BT 3 days to put in a digital line. lol

T

Yes months. Hmmm.

We had ISDN Tim, its nothing compaired to Cable. But BT charged us £50 to uninstall the ISDN line and £25 to install a new phone line. WTF!!!

Lucky for us, they said they would be round on Monday morning, but then never came, then it was 1pm, no show, 4pm, no show, We complained and got £150 compensation. Hehehe. nice

I have blueyonder at home and very pleased with it, much much better than my old 56k modem!!

Would reccomend it even though it has a few off days. Installation approx £25 now & £25 per month.

Sorry guys, I know Craig was on about his service being knocked off but...

NTL are in deep shite! Justice? Oh yeah! biggrin.gif

Just watching the news, they are a yank company aswell...muppets!!! LMAO biggrin.gif

They're laying off thousands of workers and apparently are mega struggling and with their customer service I'm not surprised! NTL? You are the weakest link...GOODBYE!!! biggrin.gif

Easy Timmy mate ! Thats my bloody job you're talking about !

What can I say ?? 2hrs on holld for customer service and someone up top doesn;t know when to stop investing in new technologies and make what they already have stable ??? Weird thing to screw up when you earn that much money frown.gif

god, this is gonna make me unpopular...just read the start of the thread as well.

Explain this, I get given a cable coming out of the wall, a set top box and a pc - 3/4 hour later I have one of the fastest internet connections I've ever seen....take it we are talking about broadband through a stb ?

Wouldn't touch NTL with a barge pole (sorry Zach...). We deal with them at the moment as they are one of our major carriers through EMEA. And, in a word, they are pants. Or rather, the service that they provide is pants. Big blue fluffy ones.

Am not going to go into details but suffice to say that this is their last week providing us service. For the last 6 months we have been employing specially trained pigeons, equipped with Bird-Turbos ™ to transport data and signals. They are a lot faster than NTL. biggrin.gif

Well.. just to put a fly in the ointment, I

got NTL cable modem the minute they came out and had 1 year of uninterupted, trouble free surfing 24 hours per day at 80-100 KB/s. And a static IP.

It was fecking awesome.

Then I moved.

I know have some prehistoric modulator-demodulator piece of arse that supposedly connects me to the 'super highway'.

arse. arse.

arse.

stu

my gripe with ntl is they give you one price which looks very good and then when you ring to get them to come and fit it the price now becomes triple the original one quoted.........ive never seen a company so sneeky with their small print and having to buy other services just to get the one you want
