Hi all, just wondered if any of you guys that own or have owned NA's ever had them on a rolling road, I am getting near to the end of the mods that I am doing for now and want to get some comparisions for when I get mine done.

soon! As I now have my headers fitted.

Ran a 15.14 at Santa Pod 2 weeks ago. I "guess " that the zorst, decat , Stillen filter and headers are worth around 40bhp in total. So in theory flywheel bhp sholud now be around 270. But that would be on a perfect engine, not a 60,000 mile s/h unit.

I reckon we should have a seperate forum for NA tuning. Its something that you really dont hear too much off, so its hard to get ideas/make comparisons etc. There seems to be a lot more NA owners on the forum recently, and a good few guys looking to improve bhp (myself included  ).

It would be pretty handy to have all the info together in one wee forum? What do you think fellas?

Cue slagging match from TT owners... :slap: :p

Idiots, go and buy a TT :x:

It would be good idea for a seperate part for NA tuning but only if there was enough call for it so come on guys if you want it put your name down on this thread then we could ask Mr Groves nicely :D :D

No reason why we cant use the advanced tuning section of the members only forum area. Its primarily for TT idiots but I dont see why we cant just have an NA thread open permanently for those of us who are interested??

When are you next at the Pod then Pete? I have to work a lot of weekends but will get there even if it means I have to take a sickie :p

I had mine on a rolling road, the thread seems to have disappeared but it was 235 rwbhp.

That an impressive figure for an NA, what had been done to her to achieve 235rwhp? I am hoping to be in the 215 - 225 area when mine gets on a rolling road,I think I read on here somewhere that it was not far off a TT for performance.

TBH theres no reason why a tuned NA cant keep with a TT on certain roads with an experianced driver, excluding straights :p

agreed - reckon if we had a count of all the N/As on here there would be quite a few

Slick Pete. would be interested to know if the headers make a difference

took mine to rolling road but ended up not being pushed as much as it should i dont think!! i think due to a dodgy MAF that was causing problems. was making approx 240 with 189 ft torque also very hot day which wouldnt have helped

last time she was dynod at thor was 197 rwhp but that was before devin chip and lightweight pulley

also a big difference in readouts from this place to thor as they added calculations for drag/resistance etc

speedemon be interested in seeing your results as well - where you taking it?

Sunday Jul 17 th is round 5 of the Z Club Drag challenge!

Ill be there!!!

Thats really good for an N/A as standard TT is about 230 rwhp. i'm impressed though I'm waitng to see what J D's 5ltr N/A V8 dynos at as I think that is the real way forward for Z ownership.

P.S.

A nice Z is a nice Z, be it N/A or TT. Remember TT may have a bit more gain, but it certainly has more pain.

Mark you hit the nail on the head, "the candle that burns the brightest". I know when I drive the N/A hard "every day" it will start first time the next day just so I can do it all over.

Maintanance Cost

TT 9.5K 3rd engine

N/A £30 second hand alternator :hyper:

What can you do to tune an NA?

As far as I know:

aftermarket exhaust (that's cat back, plus decat pipes plus headers for a full system)

after market air intake

different chip / reporgrammed ECU

underdrive pulley(s)

Any idea how many bhp each ones gives? And if certain things work best together?

Is there anything else or is it onto big money / big risk stuff like porting the head, nitrous, superchargers etc etc?

Wasn't one of the traders going to put together some sort of NA tuning packs?

Also, how much power is lost through an auto box?

And thats why we want an NA forum.

Anyone know of any engineering companys who could help in this need for speed???
