I must be getting old, I've been listening to Live8 on the radio all day, (Radio 2, The Truckers choice!), And some old, some new music, but on the whole, great. Got home about 7, thought i'll watch it on the T.V., great.

Then Snopps on stage, Brilliant, thought this is great, heard the intro to, "Whats my name", said to the Mrs, "They'll be playing a cleaned up version of this", but no, all the Mother fookers where in place, so I turn over the channel, because of the kids.

Then "Mad Donna" comes on, ranting all the "F" words, turn over again.

Then some nobody group comes on, swearing like a trooper!!

Turned it off.

Now im not old fashioned, and I can swear probably better than most, but was it really nessasary?

I think its a great event, with fantastic intensions, but the swearing is just not right at that sort of "Family" event/ T.V.

Got the radio on quietley, and i'll turn the T.V. back on when Pink Floyd take the stage, as I know what songs they are performing, and im looking forward to it.

It be truthful I thought that the parts I have seen have been poor.

it doesnt seem special. Its just any other open air concert ther has been.

Litening to the line up the German on has had, I would have rather listened to thiers concert.

Do you reckon the swearing would bother Bob "Give us yer f*cking money" Geldof? ;)

And remember the fuss it caused at the time??!!

dunno but as i get older these so call "rock stars" piss me off,ok ime all for halting world famine and all that goes with it but i get the hump when some spotty faced kid with a bango slung over his back goes to one of these third world countrys and strokes a few heads, pokes his 15 haired chin into a mud hut and then comes back to the uk with stories of woe and how hes gunna change the world by doin a gig at the "dog n tit" on a saturday night, iff they wanna help just let us deceide with out portrayin them selves as the second coming of christ.----ok rant over, who wants a bevvy

But that was because he was passionate about the cause. He later appoligised for doing it.

These people are swearing for the sake of it.

I have to agree with this too Sarge :nono:

I did watch it from about 8pm though.

What's all the fuss in the papers today about how good Robbie was?? He was shite - he didn't sing much at all, he left that to the audience FFS

Slash was awesome though but the best was at the end - The Who and Pink Floyd   For guys in their 60s they've still got it!

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Call me old fashioned but if 20 yrs ago lots of kids were dying in africa through starvation and Aids .... why have more Bloody kids for them to just die of starvation and Aids, thats what needs addressing IMHO :x:

Look, It's the same over here, but at least we all have homes with fridges, cookers, food , .....normal every day things. Yes there are homeless people and poverty , but it's a minority.

Some of the things i've read on here about live8 I find selfish and disturbing.Who cares If they are ageing rock stars or whatever? It takes certain types of people to make things happen. Bob Geldof took criticism 20 yars ago , and I'm sure he'll take It now. If his goal is to save lives and he only saves the life of one child then It's all worth It.

In 100 years time , Africa will be a civilised country, we (Including Bob and the rest) will be long dead. But our grandchildren and descendants will look to the past and see how and who changed the course of history.

I watched most of it. I thought Madonna was a bit unnecessary with the swearing aswell as some others but hers seemed to just be an excuse to verbalize? I had to leave for work at 22.30 so missed the best...Who and Pink Floyd. I recorded it on Sky Plus tho' so watched them today. Pink Floyd were fookin ace mate. fookin ace. Dave Gilmour didnt seem very interested in Roger Waters at all. Cant say I blame him tho' I have been a Floyd fan for many years now Even my dog is called Floyd.......

Well worth the wait.

I dont like Geldoff but fair play and credit where its due. They wasnt after our money this time just our support and there aint nowt wrong with that. :nana2:

Amen brother :nono: ;)

And just when will you decide? 2010, .........2020...........2030..and when you do, what will you accomplish? stand outside tesco's with a bucket?

Reality check....

Through the history of the earth, thouands of species and cultures have died out due to not being able to adapt to their environment. Is it really our job to fight it and can it be done? Things could go the other way, in a thousand years time historians could look back and be puzzled by 20th century man's emotional state of mind, and how he tried to change what has been happening since the beginning of time by sending food parcels around the world.

Yup, and they will still have a bee in their bonnets about the white westerners that enslaved them a few hundred years ago.

Well said !

I believe the children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they pocess inside.

Has that been said before?

:D

:nono:

What do you mean it aint a joking matter?

G8 are probably laughing their socks off. As if they really give a t055 what pop stars say. :mac1:

i see we're not alowed to slate the "great" geldof, but it was ok for him to have digs at the charitys that help 24/7 365 days a year, and who do it for no gain AT ALL, when he decides to sell all he has or donates a major sum, it may make people less cynical,

only recently zambia said by britain donating clothes it was undermining their "industry"

when i see geldof visit africa more than once every few years:(

im old enough to remember the tv clips from '85 and remember doing loads

to help, i also remember geldof saying not a penny would stray fron the cause

yet millions was spent on administration and wages, ethiopia has changed little apart from the dictators have flourished, very little is known of what happened to the vast amounts raised, every 2 years when comic relief is aired you get a breakdown of what the cash has gone on,

i would have more respect for all these "stars" if they donated cash first, time 2nd, even the tsnami tradegy vast amount of celebrities donated cash,

footballers are one that spring to mind when a lot of premier league players donated wages, which encouraged more donations

lets not forget comic relief was started in 1985, and last year over 17 million was raised by events such as rattling the bucket outside tescos, and over 60 million in total, if THIS live aid actually works better than the last one and the cash goes where its supposed to, then i guess we can see geldof move into buck' house, i hope im wrong but i won't hold me breathe............................

ok,ill probally get shit put on my door step for this but dont you think we and the world are victims of our own circumstances, death for any human is real bad but we are upsetting the fragile ballance of nature here, this "third world" thingy is a name given to people who for whatever reason cannot substain them selves in food and for 2 main reasons--natural climate variations, and droping food parcels out the back of c15 transporter planes thats fvcking the fine ballance up here big time, when these people continue to breed thinkin food comes from the sky out of an aircraft and the west keeps fueling the flames with handouts then after an out of controll global population boom in years to come our kids kids kids wont see happiness and harmoney but only a over populated world full of humans who cant feed themselves. what we should be doin is birth controll concerts and droping noddys hats out of c15,s

sorry iff i upsett anyone but "hey freedom of speech dudes"

I'll have some of that 5hit on my doorstep too?

We as a nation, the UK cannot house and finance every fooker that is in trouble? I work my nuts off some nights to make ends meet and to be forcefully made to pay some ba5tard5 giro because he has just landed here looking for Tony Bliars hospitallity wearing £90 Adidas Trainers and a Tracksuit to match. Who by the way is a known criminal in his own country. Then after tollerating all that I am told i am tight if I dont give to all these disasters that are happening around the world. Well..........

B00LL0X.......

(The above is based on fact) I am not a racist at all. I only have a problem with letting every ponce in the world have a share of my money........

As I said before. Geldoff aint after money just support this time. So fair play.

Sorry I'm finished now... :x:

I am very shock at how self centred and narrow minded some people are.

Actually I find it quite embarassing.
