On my way home after work tonight with 5 (yes 5 don't know how I did it)people in the Z excluding myself on the motorway at 3a.m when a red celica GT4 pulls up behind me flashing his lights (no need as I was in the slow lane) he pulled out to overtake, and I nailed it as he was alongside. My Z is currently running in safety boost due to a faulty detonation sensor and despite this, and with 6 people on board, it STILL kicked the GT4s ass! it was close up to about 90, with the GT4 about 4 car lengths behind, but above 90, the Z just sailed ahead, and all the while it was only boosting to 6 p.s.i!.

They are not fast cars

AFAIK they are very heavy and have around 40% tranny losses giving only around 120@wheels.

it's funny you should mantion that because, early last year, I got to drive a 300BHP GT4. Nice car!

 

From what I can remember, it did not have quite the kick that my Z has and mine is standard bar a Scorpion exhaust.

 

Go figure.

Good effort mate, but I have to be the odd one out...I would have one tomorrow! Was it the new shape? Toyota is well and truly in my blood and after my Nissan experiences I would either buy a Supra or something like a GT-4 when I finally kill the Z completely!

 

Remember, they are basically a Rally car like the Impizzas and Evos. Look at the used values on them aswell, M reg still selling for around the 10K mark! Good effort!

 

 

Timmy No! not a supra! they are very fast yes, but theyre boring to drive, and dont look half as sexy as the Z IMHO, buy a mazda RX7, the only car to come out of japan which looks better than the Z, and it breaks down just as much, which as we all know, gives the car character

Im sorry guys but as im independant in all this, I have to say that, how can you say that they are "not fast cars", what bollox. Remember it's not only the car but the geezer behind the wheel has something to do with it aswell. And his car didnt cost over 30K new! A GT4 is not a supercar, therefore it is no match for the Z, but at least he was mad for a fuckin race! Respect!

Fuck it! I'm gonna sort out me Z, sell and get another Toyota! At least they are capable of staying on the road for more than a couple of weeks at a time without crapping out

RX-7's are rotary! Same goes for the RX-8 due out soon.

 

My mate at work is an Aussie guy, he was saying that the Aus guys are mad for Rotary and that the engines are well smooth and deliver fantastic torque etc.

 

You're right though, I have done alot of reading about the RX-7's and they are a very delicate motor!

 

Maybe I should have done some reading on the Z before I bought that, like I did with the Soup and saved myself thousands!!!

lol our Zed is the most reliable car we have atm. Galant has a broke ECU, mondeo pisses steam out the radiator, xantia has a dodgy cooling system (it doesnt work even with the fan going, temp just skyrockets). The Zed is fine, no probs at all (touch wood) only that it could be used as a weapon when u give it some go!

i remember a gt4 doughnutting at the crewe3 cruise just before i went on and i thought it was awesome considering they're 4 wheel drive it was one of the best 4b doughnuts ive ever seen
