Guys

Anyone know the approx weight of a zeds engine?

I need to know so I know which stand to buy, they seem to come in 2 main weight categories: 750lbs(340kg), 1000lbs(450kg) and 1500lbs(680kg).

I am guessing the 1000lbs stand will do...

Any ideas?

LMAO, well I dont know any *AHEM*sailors*AHEM* to help but I do have a few friends willing to do a quick lift for a pint... :)

Although, it'll be in the back of a Van, couldnt I connect the engine to the stand whilst its still in the van? Or am I dreaming? :nana2:

Make your stand up first and get hold of the correct bolt lengh and size (sorry but cant remember off hand)

No dreaming, try it. Remember lift and move things with your brain, you dont have to break your back to get the job done.

I put an engine from a z onto a stand yesterday, they are bloody heavy and would be a nightmare to do while a few blokes are holding it but not impossible I guess, I used an engine crane to get it to the correct height then bolted it up, the bolts go about an inch into the engine to give you an idea of the bolt length you need.

The bolts are 10mm just in case you need to know.

Thanks mate, VERY usefull.... :D

I have never used one before but how the hell can 4 bolts hold such a heavy engine?!?

You know when you look at something and you have that feeling that its gonna break any second, isnt it a bit like that?!?

Where do the bolts go into on the engine?

Yep Mark you need to hire a engine crain to lift it in and out of the car or van. + It makes life easier to get it on the engine stand as sufflkzx says. They arn't expensive to hire for a weeked and you only really need one twice durring the operation.

Still would go V8 though If I where in your shoes. That way you'll have years of big power to enjoy rather than years of big bangs, incredible highs and unbelievable lows + a hole in your bank account big enough to fit a house.

Yeah I diddnt ignore your last comment about the V8 Mark its just that I kinda feel the 'Twin Turbo' is a mark of the 300zx. Kinda like its styling, whats the point of radically changing the style if u love the 300. Some bodkykits completely take the car away from being what it is\was. IMO, a car like Macca's has been enhanced by the work he's done whereas a car like CJ's, as nice as it is!, doesnt resemble a Zed in my eyes anymore....but hat off to him for individuality...

And I feel that way about the twin turbo too, if I wasnt bothered about keeping with the Z32 way, then definately I would consider a V8 or probably buy something else in place....a nice TVR or Aston's are getting cheaper now! :) (One day! DREAM)

I hope I have explained myself well enough and not sounded like a fool.....even though I know your right Mark in regards to the heartache with the path I am choosing, I cant help feeling its the right one to take.....

Wish me luck! :)
