OH MY GOD CHECK THESE HARDPIPES OUT

: These are mandrel bent aluminized steel tube that I have polished out. They cost me $16 each. The hose clamps are $3 each, and are hella nice. The 2"->2.5" adapters were $7 at Napa and the 2.5" straight rubber couplings were $1.50 each.

: I'm still waiting on the 2" pipes to arrive, however, I already have the hose clamps and couplings waiting for them once they get here. Enjoy!

They don't look bad. Where can we get them from?

:)

Another little secret...Warren sprinkled that dirt on the engine to make the pipes look shineier

Paul

Ps

I may have to edit the spelling of shineier if i can get it to look right smile.gif

I think you'll find Warren was just quoting something off TTnet, given the mention of "Napa", and all the prices are in dollars...

Still dunno whats so special about them though!?

I think your right Aaron unless his blow off valves have mysteriously disappeared biggrin.gif

Well spotted

Paul

i think if you all bothered to read the thread i posted, at $110 or roughly £78 for a set of hard pipes, you will realise that we are being taken for the proverbial ride over here.

Clarkey wtf are you on about, im sure you have seen my engine bay???? its in the rides section.Maby i should post abit more ont he forum wink.gif

Yeah.. but for a start they're not stainless steel.. And secondly from that post it sounds very much like the guy took a section of pipe to an engineering works and said "bend this"...

I'm sure if I could be bothered to source aluminized steel tube (not stainless remember..) and find an engineering works, and get it bent, etc etc I could make them cheaper than I paid for mine..

But it wouldn't be stainless, and I'd have to spend all that time fucking about getting them made too......

Still everyone knows I'm lazy biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

[This message has been edited by aaronjb (edited 07-12-2001).]

yeah but stainless is actually not that much more. what im saying is basically look what we are getting and tell me it is worht an extra £120 odd to make the air into the intake hotter than before smile.gif

Oh and az how exactly do you think smithy gets them done ???#

[This message has been edited by 300z (edited 07-12-2001).]

Yep, coz it looks nice biggrin.gif...

It'd be arguable how much the air heats up given how fast it's flowing too really..

And yeah - I know thats how Smithy gets them made, and I imagine he's making a decent markup.. But that's what I'm paying him for - getting them made..

well why you arguing then ????

thats my point, im not saying its wrong if smithy is the one to bother making them then good for him, but the point im making is look how easy and cheap it is to make up.

besides stainless steel is nto the correct thign for a hard pipe.

The use of high strength aluminum alloys in place of carbon steel or stainless steel offers many advantages throughout the fabrication and assembly processes. The lightweight of aluminum alloys, in comparison to the ferrous metals, reduces dead load

Aluminum can be painted, if required, or chemically treated for excessively corrosive environments. Aluminum is inherently resistant to most normal atmospheric environments. Aluminum does not develop rust spots like steel, is self healing if scratched and is not subject to the corrosion problems associated with steel. Aluminum construction offers low maintenance because it does not require an uninterrupted organic paint film or a sacrificial inorganic film for protection. Carbon steel corrodes rapidly in normal weather conditions unless it is protected by a cathodic organic or inorganic sacrificial paint film or protective metallic plating. Carbon steel must have an uninterrupted protective film to inhibit corrosion. If a break does occur in the protective organic film, the site of the break becomes anodic and corrodes rapidly, resulting in undercutting of the paint film and filiform corrosion, with severe rusting necessitating repair to prevent structural damage. The advantages of aluminum over steel are many when considering corrosion, not only in terms of appearance but from low maintenance costs and most importantly - structural soundness biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I wasn't really arguing, it just came out wrong smile.gif

And your typing got an awful lot better half way through that m8 wink.gif biggrin.gif

Those pipes were aluminized steel btw.. not alloy smile.gif Alloy pipes would be nice tho.. Much harder to weld tho if I'm not mistaken - and probably a shedload more expensive too smile.gif

he he he how do i make a sheepish grin biggrin.gif My cut and paste has become very efficient lol.

Well you get my point biggrin.gif

im going to make some up in JHB and give them away when i get back biggrin.gif

Jesus Warren, you confuse me sometimes, you've got a set of mine, still not paid for!

then copy a post from somewhere showing cheaper and crappy alternative, just to give you some ideas of prices, Silicone is £1.10 an inch, you have 24 inches of it, stainless bands are £1.25 each in that size, you have 16 of them, the stainless is the 306 grade as used in dairy works, all other fabricators use 304 (cheaper)so the mandrel bends, there are 4 of them at £9.00 each, stainless 306 tubing at £1.50 per inch, you have 16 inches welded on, postage to customer £7.50 i make that around £113.90p just for materials, then there is the welding, purged inside and tigged outer, polishing, postage to me of materials, then going to 3 diferent places to get work done, NOW hazard a guess at how much i'm making, the price i charge is for these members only and is way cheaper and better than the main alternative HKS, now shut yer trap and get the cheque here pronto for all the stuff !

:confused

Oh and the ones in that picture look shite, yours don't !! smithy

Dunno what you girls are grizzling about but the only bit I read said "aluminized steel tube" which has then been polished. So my assumption is that the aluminium (or aluminum for the septics here) has been polished off and the buggers will go rusty !

hmmm nice one smithy

this could get ugly but ill resist.

im nto complaining about you , i say all the better to you. what i am saying is look at whats involved, and how easy it is.

But warren, Smithy just listed exactly whats involved, and how cheap it is (not)...

Ahh anyway..

Smithy the silicone hose turned up today (posty kindly left it sat on my doorstep! good job the local thieves don't go for unmarked packages as well as car stereos :mad smile.gif.. so I'll be doing some plumbing next week biggrin.gif

Now if Nissanparts.cc would just deliver my other stuff... Tempted to call Shanna there again tho coz she has a really nice voice! biggrin.gif

weel for fucks sake again i post what i see, im just relaying it. And again i get shot down from everyone again.

HHmmm is this an english thing ?????

Christ read the fucking first line again and see i did not state or accuse or .....

Smithy you have my bank detauils just take the money.

Please dont charge me vat though if you are not vat registered. If you are please can i have vat recipet so i can claim the money.

biggrin.gif LMFAO biggrin.gif

WaZZa, do you carry a large shovel around with you on a permanent basis mate? biggrin.gif

Someone posted a hardpipe set-up around the same time as Paul(Smithy) and it looked WANK!!!

I agree with everyone else and I don't dispute the fact that some other metal can do the same job. FFS it's originally rubber hosing for christs sake! LMAO biggrin.gif

Don't take it personally big guy, we love ya really! Even though you think we don't wink.gif

I got Smithy boys kit through a couple of eons ago, not fitted it yet, but it is the bollox and no disputing that. You get what you pay for! Same with his A-pillar pods. I haven't got 'em yet but belive me I will be, why? Coz when I look at the nastey stuff that is being sold for much cheaper else where and then when I saw Mr. P's at his house a few weeks back...well...it's a bit like putting Chris Eubanks in with Lennox! Nuff said! biggrin.gif

Mind you how sad am i that i lower myself to the likes of this lot and respond to them.

Smithy im still waiting for my money from the dyno day. You ever goign to pay???

O NO! another thread heading out of control,

DING,DING round 2 biggrin.gif.

MmmeeeeeeooooowwwWWW!!!!!

Catty, bitchy bunch aren't we wrong time of the month is it? rolleyes.gif

Anyhow Smithy wasn't at the RR and more cars than the intial 15 ran, so perhaps other people owe you money Warren.

In fact if more cars ran then those of us who did pay should all get a rebate. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Jezz.

hmmm i would like to state if you go back to my original fucking stupid thread on the dyno day, why dont you all bother to have a look at why i was asking for booked money up front. I paid up front for that eventy by the way, and came up £170 pounds short from you great lot.

So yes i would actually liek the guys who never paid me to pay me if it is going to get petty.
