Will not affect the timing in the slightest and your car will run fine until any small object gets into the belt then your engine will be destroyed. e.g stone off the road the duster you keep under the bonnet, flying bugs leave the covers on if you don't like them paint them :)

never leave the covers off any water,oil or dirt contamination will cause your timing belt to decay resulting in dead z

Keep em covered,as the other guys said, contamination is the biggest problem.

Let the Max Power Supra and Cossie boys leave their timing belt covers off - watch them :cry: when something gets under the belt and fecks their engine........ :p
