Well last night some dick head decided he didn't like my car and hurled a pint glass at it which went straight through the drivers side T top. Fortunately the police picked the guy up and charged him.

Does anyone know where I could get a second hand T top from?

Why second hand?

I would be getting brand new and making sure the scumbag was paying.

Some kids bent a few windscreen wipers in our street and got caught by the police,We all got awarded about £25 off them which was a good deal as wipers are only about £5.

Stu, there is a 300 which has had an interior fire which has got t tops but don't know if they are any good, in Gowings in brinkley nr Newmarket.Werth a phone call.

 

Also try the back of the Autotrader,they have several companies which advertise mail order parts from jap cars which are being broken up.I managed to get a replacement Jap spec.door mirror through one such company.

 

I phoned the Nissan dealer for claim purposes and a new roof glass panel (glass only) is £826 +VAT!! cough! cough!

The guy goes to court on Thursday but wheather I get any money will depend on him having a job or not I suppose or it will be £1 per year or something dumb.

I found a company on ixm (cheers Anders) and got a panel for £115 off a grey 300 so I'm hoping I can swap out the black side panel on mine.

Has anyone rebuilt a T top panel?

I haven't heared a thing. Apparently he went to court 2 weeks ago but I haven't heard anything, I don't know how long these things take?

 

I just phoned the court and apparently he goes to court tomorrow 23rd Nov as the case was delayed so I will keep you all posted.

 

Obviously not applicable now since you've got hold of one, but if you go to www.1stchoice.co.uk, enter your details and what parts you want, the request goes out to over 100 scrappies around the UK and they will phone you back within a minute or so. I've tried it and it's quite spooky how fast the phone starts ringing. That is, of course, provided someone has the part you want. :o)

 

Well I have just had a letter from the courts and the case went in my favour (suprise suprise) and I have been awarded a whopping £150 poxy bloody quid. Yeah £1860 for a new roof and I get £150!

I got a second hand roof fortunately eventhough it's a different colour tint for £115. but gave them a receipt for £350.

what is the world coming to when you can't even get awarded the damages you suffer. The odds on seeing any money are probaably pretty slim.

 

I really feel sorry for you Stu. I've suffered the crap legal system here too. I bought a car that was clocked (not my Z). It was showing 60,000 but had done 230,000 miles! Obviously, this wiped off a few grand from the value of the car. The guy got taken to court for clocking mine and a whole stream of other cars. His penalty: £80 to the crown. £0 to me and all the others. We tried getting him through the small claims court but he just sent all correspondance back saying he no longer was resident in the uk. The lawyers said there was nothing that I could do.

 

I was stuffed but since he was no longer a resident, he could hardly take me and my friends to court when we went round to play football with his head ;-) This is how justice needs to be done these days unfortunately :-(
