Hi all,

Maybe stupid question, but, here it is:

When havin' a look into the engine bay, behind the big fan, there are a few (3?) 'open-air' belts.. ;what are they for? (battery charger thingie, steering wheel and aircond, is that right?)

And very important question: is it of any problem if they brake? (nothing to do with the waterpumps?)

thanks in advance :)

cheers,

bs

I THINK

the one nearest the (big fan) is the power steering pump drive belt. the middle one is for the air con and the one nearest the engine is for the water pump, alternator (battery charger thingie) and fan

If the alternator / water pump one breaks this is very bad as no water will be pumped around the engine therefore it will over heat thats if the battey doesnt go flat first.

you will certainly know about it if the power steering belt snaps, the steering becomes VERY hard to turn

hope this helps

Alternator , Power steering and Aircon belts.

No Aircon if Aircon belts snaps

No PAS with PAS belt snaps

Alterator and Waterpump share same belt, that goes around the main Crankshaft Pulley. No charging..and no waterpump
