Hello ppl I need your help please if possible .

First problem Just brought me self a 300 jap spec I beleive 300zx TT Auto 1990 . Didnt notice this at first until I stuck me foot down And found out I was seeing 100mph very quickly . Howevere 100mph is all I have on the speedo in mph , What are your suggestions please and what have I got to buy to solve the issue are Uk clocks needed and who has them ??

2nd problem

I dont know if this is related to any of the above but I do know the car is chipped and has had a boost mod fitted along with twin bailey dump valves. whilst the car is in drive mode with or withough overdrive on it doesnt seem to want to change upto the highets gear, I have to let of the throttle before it will allow me to put my foot down again . Is this commom , I would have thought putting your foot down on an auto the box should automatially change once it hits a certain rev limit surely .

Im knew to 300;s guys but did own a 200sx before but a manual one so this auto box thing is very odd to me . I must keep my left foot on the floor aswell and remind my self there is no clutch to press :) :D

hi Tweaky. i'll fill in until one of the techies can help.

is yours a Jap import? i believe they are limited to 112mph (although having said that you think it is also chipped which [usually] removes the limit)

also, autobox should normally change up all the way into 4th. there could be a small problem causing it, such as the throttle position sensor. i dont want to say any more in case i get it wrong!!!

welcome to the club mate. where in staffs. not sure about prob 1. but prob 2. if the over drive is off then 1st 2nd 3rd is all your gona get. and this will take you up to100mph nicely :D . what sort of rev's are you hitting and do you have the power switch on. this is the button just to the top right next to the auto lever

fook me i've learnt some thing at last :D

cheers for the info guys , I will do the auto box diag test this weekend when I get to play with her abit more , revs seem so be going staright round to about 7k and more before I give up as I dont want to blow her up so this is when I let the foot of the pedal and she seem to change up , I have been told that the fluid may just need topping up. I have noticed nother issue today and thought I had a leaky radiator , when Iv had the aircon/climate on set below ambiant outside temp a puddle appears under the passenger side wheel round abouts that area . Again someone says its just vapours comming of the aircon pipes . Any issues . The car I have brought is not in the best of shape to say the least , Iv know the last owner due to working with him but he had it from a local garage who say it never came with any service history so all its got at the moment is a reciept for two new back tyres. it was very cheap though so thought Id better get first dibs on it . I m bassed in stoke-on-Trent area staffordshire if any one is local , I have only seen a silver one around the a34 but that is all.

You have my sympathies, I lived in Joke-on-trent for six years. And that A34- was it me or did it have more speedcameras than tarmac? (Interesting story- the chief constable's kids go to a school along that road so he covered the thing with gatso's). Anyhow- that footwell puddle of water sounds like classic heater matrix (search for 'heater matrix'), I hear its easy to change if you take the dashboard out (not actually as difficult as it sounds), or you can bypass it.

sorry m8ty didnt make my self clear , its outside cumming from under the car . i have dipped me finger in the water and it was cold and after driving for over 3 hours the car was well warmed up so if it was water from the radiator surely it would be sculding hot. How fast should the temp needle on the clocks hit the middle mark from cold start , mine is almost withing 2 - 3 mile max and then i have heaters .

Cold water sounds like condesation to me- can't imagine how any cold could come from the engine after its been running. Sure seems odd that the ac could produce enough to make a puddle, although tbh. Hondas are what I know most about.

I've had this puddle too; think it happens after I've been using the aircon. Seem to vaguely remember a post explaining it; don't think it was anything serious.

The a/c drain pipe exits the firewall just inboard of the passenger wheel well, so yep - it's just condensation off the a/c system.

As for the auto box - do a diag, see what fault codes it throws. I'd put money on a speed sensor fault - if that's the case, try disconnecting the speed convertor behind the clocks (assuming it has one fitted). Mine had a similar fault and that was the cause, so it's worth a shot.

Also bear in mind that if you are accelerating heavily then the car will drop into power mode automatically - if this is what is happenning, when you come off the gas it will revert back and, presumably, drop into 4th gear. Try going up through the gears more gently and see if the same thing happens.
