The electric fan will run constantly if the ECU temp sensor reading is not being received by the ECU. Make sure that the connection is good (it's the larger one on the top water pipe IIRC)

cheers buddy, i will look tomorrow morning.

So, there is an electric fan also then ????????? Obviously for extra cooling, is that due to the excessive under bonnet temps ??????

  • Author

Is that the one on the solid pipe next tp the engine temp sender???

ok, took it off and blew it put it back on, still fan is on, anything else i should do other than blow ??

Erm, yeah, replacing it would be good. They aren't much from a Nissan Main Stealer. Are the connections corroded?

Usually takes a little more than a "blow" when you remove the connector a fine screwdriver to scrape any crud off the ends is helpful and better still electrical connector cleaner is good.

The fan also comes on with other faults within the engine so an ECU test is probably best to be certain and only takes 10mins, this will pinpoint any errors within engine bay for yer.

Certainly try scraping/cleaning the inside of the connector. It could also be a bad connection in the cable - try running the engine and wiggling the wire/connector to see if the fan switches off at all. If it does, you've isolated the problem...

thanks guys.

will try those things.

Unplugged it and it stayed on, though i assume thats a 'fail safe' thing??

Took plug off, cleaned connectors, put plug back on -

result - no more aux fan on, and idle back down to its normal level !!

Thanks Board members!
