as some know ill be doing the ecu check later but reading some previous posts.

I cant understand ?

if it is det then it only runs certain boost ie 6.5

well my cars boost goes right round to just before the 7 mark which according to some prev threads is almost 14 psi

BUT it still only gets to 60 in about 8-9 seconds so could it not be the det???

but another thing is i know its not supposed to be accurate but there is no way my car is running almost a bar of boostI think I would have felt it

Im going doolally!!

chris :D

how do I figure out the flashes on the ecu check??

it says long flash short flash then it gives you a load of numbers?

BRING BACK METRO TURBOS WITH CARBURETTORS ALL IS FORGIVEN

A long flash is 10, a short flash is 1. So 5 long followed by 5 short is a code 55.....everything ok.

As for the boost, my jap boosts to just before the 7 too....dont know what psi that is....

thanks mate its supposed to be 14 psi

there is no way my car runs 14 psi, even when it wasnt so slow a week back

it cant be 14 psi if your not running boost jets or a boost controller, stock is 9psi (i think, but somone will confirm)

as far as I know the only mod is a blitz filter, but thats what I mean

why does it go up to +7 and I presume other peoples do aswell if thats 14 psi,...

Id know if it was modded I hope it was quick but not that quick

and also the 0-60 is way to long

Im confused

but the check will tell me I hope

if only there was more hours in the day

chris ;)

+7 what? without any units its meaningless. if you were running 14psi the needle would top out the stock guage

thats what Im saying

I have the jap gauge which is measured some potty way, the needle doesnt quite touch the +7 mark but even still thats saying to me to me at least 12-13 psi

and If I had a faulty det sensor surely although its not the most accurate the gauge would only go to around the +3 mark = about 6 psi in safety mode

chris :duffer:

ok i get you, well if there is no misfire and the engine isnt getting bogged down i guess either ur guage is way out or theres a problem with your tranmission. clutch slipping? autobox on its last legs?

Yeh I've got a Jap import too and the stock gauge measures in millimeters of mercury (mm/hg) x 100.

Mine has no boost upgrades but at full chat measures about 6.5 on the gauge x 100 gives 650 millimeters of mercury which = 12.56 psi (theoretically).

The trouble is I cant see how a tiny gauge like that can really give an accurate reading at all, apart from a rough indication i.e no boost - half boost - full boost.

Beyond that get an aftermarket gauge if you want to rely on it a bit more, but without a calibrated gauge with a mirror reading, capable of adjustment for altitude, temp and barometric pressure at time of reading it's never gonna be 100% accurate - we are talking about a difference of 3.5psi, shifting your head side to side can prob adjust your indicated reading on a stock gauge by + or - 1 psi alone ;) HTH

it has a brand bew auto box

could still be a problem but I doubt it?
