JWT500's and JWT600's are basically rebuild and modified stock turbos

the "core" they mention means you need to send a pair of stock turbos to them...this can be eg. your old pair of turbos.

It doesn't matter if the the turbos have seized, since that part will be rebuild/replaced, but it's very important that there is no damage to the housings and, especially for the JWT500, the turbine housing (exhaust-section) shouldn't have small cracks otherwise the core will be worthless to them.

I see so they basically re-con your turbos then....hmmm well they are based in the US which isnt ideal, perhaps i need to look for someone who can supply and fit new turbs as didnt really want to go down the recon route if poss.

thanks mate.

Does any one know what they actually do with them?

Cos I got my stock turbos reconded with new wheels, shafts, 360º bb, seals and step gap rings, and they where cheaper than the JWT 500 turbos

I bought my jwt 500's from them but did not have to supply my old turbos???

they usually do a "core charge".

which means you'll get eg. 400USD back as soon as they have recieved your old turbos and the shells have been confirmed not to have any cracks.

slightly larger/different wheels and modified housings

What are the EGT's like when running hybrids lymon?

EGT's depend on other factors as well.

but too large wheels in stock housings (eg t25/t28) won't do much good to the EGT's since the efficiency of these kind of hybrid turbos is completely messed up.

The JWT500's use a special compressor wheel, which is just slightly larger then the stock compressor wheel, but has a smaller 56trim (stock has a 61 trim wheel) which still gives pretty decent efficiency

Guys if i got Brand new Nissan OEM turbos, do you think i could decat at a later date and not have the risk of the seals going??

Seals go no matter what.

Its a bit like saying if I drive slowly will my tyres never go bald.

lol i see what your saying mate....ok fair enough, just suppose with new ones may take a while to happen....not like i do big milage anyway, prob about 5k...so hopefully not too risky ;)

and New stock turbo's are barely any cheaper than the much stronger, more reliable and more efficient uprated turbo's.

Does'nt make any sense to go for New stock tubs.

i would go uprated if i had the cash to do the other mods which are involved with bigger turbs...but unfortunately with everything else i need to do i dont :(

if i changed them for anything it would be the jwt 500's i think as im only really after stock power and maybe later take it to about 380 but thats all im after....thing is i can get the Nissan new ones quite a bit cheaper than the 500's so for me seems to be the best way forward. If i could of fitted brand new 530's without having to do anything else to it to run them, then i would, but from what i hear thats not possible.

Just need all the advice i can get really.

Dan.

The JWT 500's are just straight replacements.....and as far as I know thats the same for the 530's. I cant think of anything else needed to be able to run them......

....Anybody else explain pls ? :):(

the 500's use stock housings, so these are indeed straight plug & play.

the 530's have a T25 turbine, like the HKS 2530, which needs a 5 bolt exhaust flange, so you'll need different downpipes.

yeah the 500's are basically reconned....all new apart from the outer shell so ive been told.....i just thought not much init and the brand new ~Nissan ones were cheaper, so thought cant really get better than brand new parts really.

Think u have to up the boost when using those uprated turbs and thats something i can do cos of insurance at the mo....i need to keep power fairly stock for a while ;)

One of the guys over at TT.Net has plotted multiple dyno results from Z's using various different aftermarket turbo's, and where enough dyno's are available has created an average dyno chart for that particular turbo - the JWT Sport 500 is included:

http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=technical&msg_id=839668

It isn't a scientific result as he states himself but well worth a look to get a feel for each turbo's general characteristics.

HTH

I bought my jwt 500's from them but did not have to supply my old turbos???

:headvswal just realised I have the 530bb tubs not the 500's sorry
