WTF is wrong with my car

Floore it from dead in the Auto TT today and it took about 8-9 secs to get to 60mph

WTF

I thought my car wasnt so quick at the mo

the boost seems to go round to 7 or just below

Fuel MPG seems normal

couldnt say Ive noticed any changes in anything mechanical

but it dont seem so quick

its standard apart from air filter, exhaust but its been fine with these on before

it seemed to take so long to get through the gear and theres hardly any torque until high up the rev range

chris

why would that be?

how do I do it

ill have to do it in the morning and get back to you

thanks

chris

unless there someone local with a conzult then you dont need to check the codes as it does it for you without checking the flashes ,lol,, where abouts you live matey ,??

Ilive in cannock west mids?

I dont understand why my car is running really nice though (bar performance not being right)

whats the infamous det sensor.. :slap:

obviously as in detonation

thanks

chris

The car will run fine in Safety mode, but just with greatly reduced performance.

Code 34 - det sensor. Is a common failure where either the Det sensor or wiring to it fails, putting the car into safety mode. Its an expensive repair, or it can be bypassed very cheaply.

You would be suprised at the amount of 300zx's for sale advertised across the country that are in safety mode. New owners would'nt even know. Until they discovered the problem, had it fixed, and were blown away by the new performance.

expensive like

To replace the det sensor is rather expensive as I think it is a engine out jobbie. Sure someone will say if it can be done with the engine in, don't think so though.

Better way, if you find out that it is the det sensor breaking down and not obviously detting would be the resistor trick ... costs abot 6p for the resistor ... but be aware, you need to find out for sure what caused the car to go into safety boost in the first place. No point bypassing the set sensor when it is working fine ...

my det sensor goes off sometimes only at startup though doesnt knock me into saftey boost still runs 15 psi i belive it retards the timing hence the crap performance turn ignition off an on again and its fine :) if yours is constantly sensing det then you could have a problem brewing or just a knackard sensor best solution is find someone with conzult. daft question i know are you runnin on optimax?

If you have a boost controller fitted, it wont be able to retard the Boost, only timing.

Code 34 is not detontation..its a failure in the connection between ECU and Det sensor.

yeah sry forgot to mention that :(
