I've been hunting around for some time for anything linux based to hook a PC up to the Z in the same way ConZult / DataScan / ZTalk work, all to no avail :)

So, I've bought a DataScan cable, and with some help from Jason Dear (distributor for DataScan) for the protocol specs I've decided to write one myself. I want to put a PC in my car to do nav / music / wifi mapping etc and wanted it to run linux, so I've just about got everything else ready apart from the car interface.

I'll be starting work on it within the next 2 months or so and should have something vaguely usable shortly after that - I'll be releasing it under the BSD licence as well (looking at developing a Java based version under a commercial licence too).

So, is there anyone else who'd be interested in this, helping out with testing etc ? I've got a UK Z, so help from people with autos, replacement ECUs etc would be appreciated.

Let me know :)

I've had a look at the DashPC and some other similar projects but I want to write my own - learning exercise as well. Got several other projects underway to work alongside this (generic stuff like power management etc), most of which has been covered elsewhere but nothing specific to the Z.
