Hi all, been to look at a SWB manual this morning, seems basically a good car except the gearchange, with it in gear and going along it almost felt like it was in neutral as you could wobble the gear stick about, is this just a couple of bushes or something more difficult? could be buying another Zed if this aint too big an issue, this time its BLACK

Hmmmm, wonder how much trouble I will be in with the wife, seems too good to miss though as I should get it for about £2.5k, its been sat outside his house for months and will slowly go to ruin if its not snapped up by the right person.

Richard, mine was like that when I bought it. Had to check with Mike at MJP I was shocked, it felt it was gonna fall out.

Like Greg says its an easi fix. You might just get away with two little bushes for a couple of quid, I had to buy the top rubber/metal locating bracket also as the rubber and metal bits were divorced. Think that was around £40. (ask Mike)

I also bought a quickshift kit off ebay for £40, which I like, but Greg had one and took it out. So horses for courses!

BTW SHE WILL KILL YOU when she fnds out!!

Just a shame to see a car like that sat there and then some Gary boy snap it up and ruin it. Think I will drive the wife round there and show her.

On a negative note (apologies) why have the bushes gone?? Maybe somebody has been ragging the arse off it? maybe or maybe not?

The owner has had it 5 years and is the only owner in the UK, he says its always been like that so maybe the owner in Japan ragged it, the bloke selling it is my age (read old git) and seems genuine.

Buy it...tell her you found it in the garage!!

A manwell too...You would be mad not to.

If you dont let me know where it is and I will. ;)

The bushings wear easily if you drive around hanging onto the gearstick, does not allow it to move naturally with the vibration of the car.

mine was like that, when stripped it down some 1 had fitted a quick shift an hadnt put bushes in  only took 30min to do an bushes are cheap

Get a quickshifter from Z Centre (think it comes with new bushes) and you'll have the shortest, most solid stick you've ever driven.

Got one on my Z and very happy with it.
