Whats the fastest. A 300zx? A GTO or a Supra twin turbo. Or the top skyline. Also why do you guys think the 300zx is better than supras, GTO's ect ect. I really just prefer the look of the Z myself. It really does look powerful, where as a supra looks cheep looking and the GTO well Im just not keen on that. And skylines and Evo's and scoobies simply look like famliy cars gone. So come on explain to me why the 300zx is the best out of the big jab supercars?

The skyline gets its reputation for driving itself due to the intelligent 4wd system, but it really doesn't, just look at any of the skyline club sites for proof, I've heard the R34 GTR is over assisted, but my R32 GTR is as much 'fun' to drive as a rear wheel drive car, only it gives better traction off the line . I know what you mean about the interior, but it goes back to the eighties styling wise, so loads of plastice is to be expected! :(

 

I'm not arguing about it, just pointing out my experience, I still really like the zx and one day I will have one! :D

 

Good point about comparing different cars fron different years though.

You may not care about what a Supra does, but you certainly do care about the 300zx and where it ranks up performance wise.

If I went on another forum and started quoting this and that, and trying to be a general know-it-all, purlley (spelling?) from beleiving everything I was told is correct, just because it's on the internet, then I'd expect the same reaction.

I'll tell you what, I'll copy a picture of a dyno run sheet, and then play with it in PhotoShop, and post it on the net, would you beleive it? I know I wouldn't, but then it's down to trust! So unless I actually see somthing then how do I know it is genuine?

Why do you feel the need to be so offensive?.

Have you driven a Skyline? All the stories about these cars driving themselves because of all the gadgets is bullocks! They get tail happy like any other car, the 4WD system on the GTR doesn`t work the way you would expect it to in a sharp corner. I have owned and driven both, if you want an addrenalin rush buy a 300, the Skyline needs to be pushed much harder to get a buzz because of the safety features incorporated in the electronics.

As to the original question which is the fastest, where are you racing? round the lanes a scooby or evo will leave a 300 or a Skyline due to size and gearing, on a straight the 300, Supra and Skyline would all depend on the day and driver.

Drove an R33 GT-R a few years ago, but didnt like it, as i said its just my opinion, not doubting these cars great. The races where in s straight line but have beat a scooby round a wet roundabout, which really suprised me, put this down to the driver of the scooby being shite.

The dynos were hosted on 4 separate domains/websites. One of the dynos were performed by an aftermarket company.

 

It's interesting you talk about assumptions when it is you who assumes all 4 dynos are fakes/photoshop jobs whatever.

 

Owning and driving a 300zx and Supra isn't a previlege or a educational pre-requisite. But having experience working and tuning engines IS.

Here's a magazine article that has dynoed the Supra along side the Dodge Viper, Mazda RX-7 and a few other performance cars.

That's all the proof you guys need. The US spec ecu is more aggressive than the UK models. With the combination of high RON fuel and the leaner A/F and more timing advance, that is the key to them making more power. No "American" exageration or manipulated figures about it.

 

So with 11.5 psi boost the Supra is pushing out well over 350 hp at the flywheel, and 300 hp at the rear wheels. On the other hand, the 300 zx with 9 psi will manage 255 hp at the rear wheels (300 hp at the fly) with stock fueling and ignition curves.

 

I hope some of you have bothered to read the high speed acceleration stats between the 2 cars. There is a massive difference. I'm here to discuss what car I prefer, what car is better. All I am doing is pointing out the difference in performance, which IS the point of this thread.
