hi changing plugs soon any tips on how to do it without damgeing the engine :xxx: had a look at the engine today and it looks like rear one are under a bar type thingee do i have to remove that bar? please help thanks :bow:

yes you will have to remove the balance bar to get to cylinders 5 and 6 , basically its just a case of removing the coil packs then plugs and replacing with new ones , be careful with the connectors as they will be brittle and don't lose the O rings on the balance bar other than that its easy

Can't remember who's idea this was (think it was MTL) but it worked a treat for me when i did mine the other day and that is to slide a piece of silicone hose (6mm?) over the first few mills on the top of the new plug then just slide the plug into position and twist away! It means theres no chance of cross threading the plug cause the hose just slips way before it does any damage.

 

Top tip whoever it was!

pete you was on the right track m8, they actually make a tool for the job, see attached pic, you can pick them up at most good car spares shop. And dont forget to smear a little copper slip on your new spark plugs thread.

Hope you dont have a brittle O'ring under the balance bar and it snaps like mine did? (possibly my thought for playing with it).

thanks to all off u for tips and advice will try to keep everything in mind if anyone can remmber anything else or what kind off plugs i should use give us a shout, I would b greatfull. cheers

also what kind a plugs should i use so far these two came up NGK PFR6B-11C and NGK PFR6B-11B and can any one tell where to get these and how much do they go for thanks

tryed it and first few were ok but the one in back are bit of prob. coz u hav to take the bar off but apart form that it was easy but as someone above said be carefull when ur putting new ones back in so that u dont mess ur threads thats all
