guys i have recently replaced the front discs and pads with 3G 310mm discs and mintex pads , the pads squeel like a pig under town driving conditions

the discs are great braking is very much improved , but im certain it could be better , can anyone recomend a different pad to stop the squeel ?? but give me as good if not better braking ???

a little copper grease on the rear of the pad might help, also there are shim kits available, I use them and mine never squeals.

See what everyone else says?

I had the same set-up, bought from 3g. The pads didn't squeel but lasted around 5 minutes :wack:

I have now got Stillen Metal Matrix pads from Mike Feeney (about £58+vat) and the car stops much better than on the Mintex ones. They've lasted longer so far too.....

Richard :D

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Thanks i will probably end up changing them out for the stillen metalic pads

as braking is number 1 priority if you intend to go fast in the first place

Where did you get your 3g disks from and which ones did you got for?

Are they any good as i'm looking for some disks.

really how much did they come too and which pattern did you go for Eg. RS10 20GR or standered.

Also finish Eg. Anodised or standered.

Potn are doing them for £177 dimple and grooves extra £15 and extra £25 for 20 grooves no dimples.

Cant remember the cost mate .. twas a while ago. I went for the standard finish 20GR.

Send them a mail and see. Get some nice pads as well and avoid the EBC ones. I had them on mine and they were totally shit. They were OK when warm but bloody frightening when cold.

I'll get some of the Portefields off Smithy.

Did you do all round or just the fronts.

I'll now send them a email thanks.

porterfields are nice.

I just did my front disks as the rear ones had just been replaced and had loads of life in them.

Get some decent brake fluid as well mate ... I am sure they do that as well.

May as well do it properly. Then there's the braided brake lines etc ... LMAO .. the list goes on and on,

Ok i'll have a little looky for the fluid any recommendations?

as for Brake lines yeap i'm planning to do them too, think Chris does them.

DOT 5.1 mate .. They do the fluid as well.

Also when changing the discs etc .. check that your calipers are working well. All the pistons are good etc ... Not much point in getting uprated pads, disks if the calipers are fooked.

If you're putting 5.1 in mate do a proper flush of the whole system, if its not had 5.1 in it before. Im pretty sure 5.1 wont mix with another other grades of brake fluid and can cause problems...

although i could be completely wrong.....
