bovs/dump valves the same thing. they release the pressurised air into the atmosphere, hence the Whoosh noise.

 

Recircs recirculate the air back into the system.

 

Essentially they all do the same job.

 

Only real difference is if you like the noise of bovs/dump valves or not.

    in a manual recircs do give a performance advantage of shorter spool up time after gear changes, in an auto it makes no difference at all as the engine is still fuelling during changes so turbo speed is unaffected
