So there is alot of talk about these GT28R turbos....are they a bolt up fittment apart from the 5 bolt exhaust housings?

I am only looking at running 1 bar boost anyway so would the GT25R be oK?

My power target is 350@the wheels.

Cheers,

Nigel

the GT25's will be good for 400 at the wheels and the spool up will be less than stock!!

I have heard good things about this place and the prices are very good

TBH russ i am sort off leaning over to the way your thinking!! i was chasing big ponies before thats why i built a mega engine but then i bought the supra with the T88 single on it and the car had a genuine 600++ bhp but nothing until 4500 rpm then it was just stupid lol fun but you could see how it could kill you lmao

Regardless of whats above i still think the best alround turbo for the zed is the HKS 2530 for the spool up and power so there :D

Mike

ps love you all ;)

The use that I realy want my car for is ermmm, less organised track days so to speak :nelson: I want all my power the instant I need it. and touch wood i should get it as my c/r is high for a turbo engine (9.3:1 ). Have to say it's going to be close between my zed and other more powerfull one's on a quarter. will I run out of puff before the end and will they be able to harness there full power by the end  ? who knows but it will be fun finding out :D

i'am no mechanic, but a true 350 at the wheels I don't think a lot of people have it. If you get the tub's for nought , then it may be worth it as your going to spend a lot on fabrication. My manifolds will probably cost £1000 or so. If I was not getting so much work done on the engine i would go for a straight swap turbo.

I run T25 stage 2 at the moment, don't think the stage bit makes any differance.straight thru exhaust, performance air fliter, custom mapped ECU, and polished and ported heads running at 14 psi. I'm getting 364bhp at the crank 350lb of torgue. so I don't think your going to get much more than that with those tubs.

The GT25's are completely different russ they are the new dual bearing turbo and are good for about 240 bhp each so i would have though 400 bhp could be achieved fairly easily. Problem is there so new no one is running them so it will always be a risk fitting them, but from the maps they look a very good bet and a great price!! just a simple case of the fitting then lol

It's nice to see a debate like this being talked about on this UK forum and cars being made to this spec in this country, hope everyone gets what they want from the cars they are bulilding!

I'm currently testing the GT25R's out on one of my Zeds, although the engine I'm testing these on is a high compression engine (modified VG30DET engine, running10:1 CR), so I'm not sure how they are on a regular TT engine.

Sofar so good, but I have only driven 500km and the engine hasn't been run in yet.

Spoolup seems very decent.

Yeh they look a very good turbo and for what $750 each from the states a bargain.

Shame your testing on a high comp engine as you wont be able to run mch boost but will still be interested to see how they perform :)

my goal is 1.1-1.2 bar, since this about where the efficiency of these turbos end.

I'll be using water injection, 99 RON fuel and maybe a little overfueling at high boost to improve cooling and prevent detting even more.

And...if it doesn't work out, I'll try them on a regular TT engine :D

Hi,

Keen to hear how these turbo's have gone... also are there any fitting problems???

Nigel

Ive just orderd a set of GT28Rs after talking to Eric and Peter Nendles,There is quite a bit of modification allyhough noting to serious there is a good write up on TT |Net about their fitting from HakkenTT.

these were the ones i was getting but they never arrived :mac1: but they are a very very nice turbo with decent spool up and superb air flow and should see well over 600 bhp with supporting mods, i only know of a skylark running these on a R33 but its making 600 bhp at the wheels!!

There is a newer model to the gt28rs as well so if you havent ordered them just yet i would order the GT2871r as its the same price and spool up but can flow even more air!!

Mike

I think you might find the Gt2871r is laggier then the 28RS

Only very slightly and for the performance difference i think it is well worth it and the turbos are very similar price.

You have to remember anyone going for the gt-rs turbos are going for power and are going to get lag as they are much bigger turbos so you might as well go the next step up IMHO

Both great tubs and will be nice to see a set on a zed in this country

I,m interested! the engines out at the mo!!

KirbZ can you help with 3 quick questions please

How much we talking?, will stock internals be ok?, who deals in HKS?

Thanks buddy

Hi Dave

Price wise about £2500ish if imported from the US prob pay upto 4k in this country, no stock internals will need to be changed as these will easily give you 550+rwhp and stock will not hold past 450 ish (can of worms) for long IMHO so again you need to allow for forged (Z1 are doing a full set for about £1300 for pistons, conrods and full rebuild gasket set) try chris@getgreddy for US stuff.

Cheers

Mike

Thanks for the advice mate, but that prices me out. just have to go with a boost controller and stick with the stock gear.
