Fellow Z trekkers I would like to have a manual gear box, I have searched the holy Z forum but my quest comes up with a different answer to behold.

There has within the last 6 months been a brand new AUTO box and cooler fitted to my car which is still under warranty till august it cost about 2K.

It has done about 5k and is beautiful also no mods have been done to the car apart from blitz filter and exhaust so it hasnt had to cope with much stress.

Theoretically I should be able to do a manual conversion for free with the profits from the Auto box.

But do these auto boxes sell at a good price even under these conditions

so whats the best way to go prices etc..

I obviously dont want it to work out free but then end up with a manual box thats run up a few miles ie 50k if my auto box was almost new anyway.

throw your ideas mates pals buddies :D

Sorry to disappoint you but you are unlikely to get the 2 k back when you sell it. Maybe half a k is more likely and that might just buy you a haf decent 2nd hand manual box. No fitting inc tho

Stick with the box you know!

no mate didnt mean that sorry, I fully understand that I wont get anything like that but I wasnt certain how much especially with it having warranty etc

and proof of receipt etc

a boeing 747 is about £23 million notes but no good to ya iff you hate flying

enough said mate

I just thought that with the amount of auto boxes that go awol

there was a market for one?

I can appreciate that its only worth what someone will pay but you could say that about everything in life!

I just wondered if it was worth about 800 quid. which is what I notice some people have sold manual boxes for! or there abouts

yea know what you mean mate--personly i prefer auto so iff my box went tits-up 800 for a warranted low miles box is what ide want to pay as apposed to 2 grand for a shop re-built one

I will stick with the auto if I were you. Trans conversion is not worth the trouble. Just my 2pence

Well I have been in exactlty the same position mate.

My Autobox had done about 2000 miles since the rebuild in 18 months, and had just been serviced....

I got £350 for it!

Does that answer your question?

My Autobox costme over £2K with all the work I had to have done!

I am changing to manual because I am pi55ed of with spending money on my Autobox....

I may well be a one off case, but the autobox case is closed! :) Manual on its way in 2 weeks...

HHHMM MArk has suddenly persuaded me to stay AUTO

£350 :hurl:

thanks

its true buddy. Ya5een was offering his for £400 and AFAIK there were no takers - even tho that was a good price. I was forced to go with a conversion as my autobox busted, and that set me back a good £1500 (roughly the same price as a custom-built solid auto) - both inc. fitting of course.
