Hello all, as you most probably see im new too these forums

so hello first of all :)

iam after a new car, and ive been looking at and very interested in the 300zx

ive been to look at a few but none really taken my fancy,

also information has been lacking on my park as im new too the japanese turbo market also

i would appricate some pointers on what i should be looking for in my first zed, such as, what should i be looking at work wise? parts changed etc

one of the main worrys is fuel consumption, now i know a 3.0 v6 TT is going to drink it like a irish barfeind but i wouldnt mind knowing figures on what you can get out of a standard zed miles out of £10 and miles out of a tank, plus how much it costs to fill the tank

any information which will help me find my first Zed really,

thanks for your time,

ric.

id make sure the car you buy has good service history with documented proof of a 60k service (plugs, cam belt, water pump,fuel/air filters etc due) or budget for one in your purchase.

having someone look over it who knows about zeds could save you £££'s in the long term.

i put in £30 at a time in my car, a combination of cruising to & from work with the odd blast or 2 gives me an average of abouy 140 miles or so. driving harder or lots of round town driving will drop this to nearer 100 miles or so.

on a long run a full tank (about £55 ish) will do me upto 300miles dependant on cruising speeds

but then i think of it as fun per gallon as opposed to miles per gallon :D

i get 50 miles for a tenner mate , 200 a tank but thats everyday driving , if i boot it , it can drop a fair bit but never normally lower than 150 a tank, unless im trying to keep up with baggins LOL

Hee hee ! Thats the same as i got with my 270bhp 200sx (S13) :hyper:

That was too tempting to press the loud pedal  You could watch the fuel gauge needle drop.

im getting like 65miles to £10 atm so doesent seem a issue atm

cheers for the replys, anything else i should be looking for? how much would you think i'd be looking at for a Zed

preferbally UK one for insurance purposes but import shouldnt be a problem really

Welcome to the forum

Each fill up - roughly £55 depending on fuel prices - gives me about 235 miles normal driving. That's 25 miles each way to/from work, 20 miles on single c'way A road at 50-80mph with some hard overtaking and 5 miles urban.

On a long m-way run at 90-100 I get around 280 from the tank.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

christ there must be something seriousley wrong with my zed put £20 in and only get about 45 miles only got blitz filter and decatt

When I used to drive my Z I used to get about 12 to 24 mpg dependant on the weather. Dry 12mpg Wet 24mpg Thats just an average. A long motorway journey and I've seen near 26mpg.

I get twice as much fuel to the pound now, and it seems a boost leak was causing my car to have no power low down, no difference when turbo spooled up which is weird.
