my car has a stillen hicas eliminator and a nice braided hose to by pass the rear rack my question is this...

in the manual it goes on about bleeding the rear rack with the two bolts on the top ive got the rack i can see this but.....

now on the car there are no bleed points for the rear so do i just bleed out the front rack the normal way and leave the rear to self bleed if it will do it ??

or do i bleed the front then crack the unions on the rear and try to bleed out the rear...

ive got no probs with any of the steering system... im just changing the fluid as ive recently got the car

Hiya,

I have changed the fluid on my car twice and never bled it in the way you are suggesting. I always just turn the steering lock to lock and seems to be fine. Lots of air foams out of the resevoir and then it settles down. But maybe this isn't the best way??

But my HICAS is a pain. Replaced all the ball joints and now the pipes that carry the fluid to the rear have burst - twice! So I am thinking of disabling it - and using some braided host to bypass it like you have done. Do you know what size hose it is?

Cheers,

Darren.

You don't need to bleed it if the HICAS is removed, it's a separate circuit from the front, so if there's air in it it doesn't matter.

Crobster24 or any one in the know...

As i am getting Hicas Eliminator fitted i was wondering if anybody has piccys of where this hose goes?

What size is it/how long and where to get from?....as i take it you dont get it with the STILLEN hicas eliminator?

Also...is it needed for fittment of the STILLEN H/eliminator or can you bodge :smash: the old pipes?

Thanks

You can bypass it under the bonnet instead:

On the HICAS solenoid in the engine bay, you have 4 hoses. 2 on the bottom run back to the rack. On the top there are 2. One is a feed from the pump, one is a return to the tank. Cut the banjo fitting off the feed then connect it straight to the tank and job's done. Best use a pipe cutter to cut it so you don't get any filings in the system.

Once that's done, the added bonus is you can junk the solenoid and failsafe valve - this will make the HICAS light come on though.

Then to gain even more weight loss........Remove the HICAS WARNING BULB in the dash........:-) lol

Yes, it's the better way to do it really.

If you ask Friday nicely he might take a picture of his for you, as I'm sure I did his that way. Can't take a piccy of mine as it's a little different.
