Does any one know if this is ture.

this is true mate.

Sad to say you must have side indication on most vehicles :(

Ah cr*p

I was hoping it wasnt

Thanks mate

Looks like I will have to try and put them in the mirror instead.

I just dont like side repeaters

Eddie

but what about the vehicles that dont have them as standard ? ......expecially older cars....your typical mot tester is'nt going to know which cars came with or without them.

Instead of a separate lamp, the side repeater might be part of the front direction indicator if it includes a wraparound lens.

more info here including dates, exemption info and tests http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_150.htm

Get some of those mirrors with indicators in, like

the Mercs n BMWs, then you can get rid of the standard

ones. (WOW GENIUS)

I've looked into this a couple of years ago and come to the conclusion that there aren't any "mass produced" mirrors for our Zeds with indicators build in. There are a couple of one-off's floating around in Japan that I have seen. Most of them function as side lights but could be easily adapted to function as indicators. If only I could remember who had them over there ... What I have found are strips of LED's which can be stuck onto the mirror casing and connected to the indicators (with a bit of fantasy and modding). Now, this sounds a lot worse (the sticking on bit) than it actually is in reality and I'll look around for some pics. Again, these are available in Japan ASAIK.

The interesting thing is whether or not the existing indicators at the front count as "a wraparound lens" and if so, can an adaptation be done. Personally, I would want any direction signal on my car to be as clear and unambiguous as possible - don't give the other b*ggers any excuse for the "sorry mate I didn't see you" :)
