I'm looking for something that can reliably cut the engine if I walk away a certain distance from the car, if the engine's still running. Does anyone know of anything like that?

Cheers

the ignition key....as soon as you are arm lengths away, turn the key and it will cut out ;)

Alternatively..the Remote Start alarms have engine cut-out by remote too.

no remote, just something that automatically does it and no I didn't mean a key :D lol

He means like a digital transmitter that has a range, when u exceed the range the car cuts out. Shouldn't be too difficult to link something like that into an immobiliser.

yep, exactly what Goit said :D

the same sort of trickery that sets a store alarm off when you walk out with ten packets of mach3 razors stuffed down your coat

Was in Brum the other day and saw some lad doing the Boots 100 yd sprint with a basket ful of razor blades, unfortunately he dropped the basket and still got pipped at the post by a couple of security guards. Looked like a lot of work @ 8 am :(

the aa patrol guys use that setup !! they have a transmitter on their belts and when they reach a certain distance or if their van got nicked , it would cut the engine , think it works on a range of about 200 feet or so

Not quite, there is a transmitter attached to the belt, but the engine will still run even if you walk away from the van. The trick is that if anyone gets in and tries to drive off the engine then will cut out sending the siren off. Without that transponder you can't get the engine started. I had this set up in my aa van.

yep, that's exactly what I'm looking for. Any ideas who can supply it?
