Hi Tom and welcome to the club. Here we go:

Yes you can get TT 2+2 manual in UK and Import format

...and yes very reliable (at breaking down :D )... well it depends on how much you look after the car, mods, mileage (obv) etc. most of the time they're reliable then (because of the sheer age of the car) something will go kaput, but you can get it back on its feet again.

Turbos last on average between 80-110k miles depending on use. they wont last as long if you up the boost tho

The only probs you tend to get with HICAS is the rear arms start to get play in them - not a major job to fix, but some people tend to have HICAS removed to get more control of the car and, dare I say it, a rally-car feel ;)

How reliable are they 4 breaking down? - No worse than any other car of similar age, generally reliable if looked after. Service history and regular oil changes are important.

How long do turbos last b4 they need reconditioned - some say 60k miles but I dont know where this came from lol, depends on frequency of oil changes and whether they are treated well, warmed up, down etc

+ all wheel steering? - do a search for HICAS, some like it some dont

Cheers

Hi Tom

I have a UK spec '93 TT and i love it.....just fitting a boost controller this week, also have an Apexi filter and Mongoose exhaust......it's done almost 80k miles and looks and still feels like new.I had a non turbo first for a year now a TT for just over a year. The only thing i would change is the PTU, get the updated one for about £100 stops the car from stopping just when you don't need it to.Apart from that if you keep it looked after you should'nt have any problems. Most people will tell you if you want to upgrade it make sure it's working perfectly first. Also if you are going to buy one check for sale here first then if you don't find one here ask lots of questions here or take someone from here with you to look at one...

Cheers 4 the comments people! Desperately wanting 1! I'm just about 2 turn cheapest quote fully comp on TT is £1400 :hurl: but more than happy 2 pay that 2 own 1  what insurance companys r u people with? I need a 300 TT unmodded cause of insurane:-(

Houghtons here are the clubs recommended insurers

I was 22 when I got my zed, most wouldn't quote (mines a modded import) but the ones who did who I can remember were Tescos, Adrian Flux, Norwich Union through Insurance Factory.

DONT use the Insurance Factory (my revenge attack on them) - I still havent received my rebate (a few hundred ££) from cancelling my policy in November!! No doubt I wont get interest either, although I was charged it

Anyway... dont get disheartened by a few refusals, some are funny with age.

I used Tesco, A-Plan, Insurance factory and Firebond for insurance.

How much did u pay when u where 22?

I was 2/3 of the way through my policy with A FLux so couldn't shop around. It worked out at 2200 Fully Comp

On renewal, still 22, I went TPFT with Tescos for 1300

cheers guys I feel so much better for being insured through the insurance factory now

I just switched from Tesco to Elephant, and mine went down from £1285 to £465!!! With some mods declared (induction / exhaust / spoiler) It's on a 3000 mile a year limit, but it's my only car, not on a 2nd car or classic policy...

The quote above is with elephant with no mods 3 years no claims but 10000 annually with no mods. But I can get insured @ least in 300hp beast
