I've recently purchased a 92 UK TT.

Totally pleased apart from the dipped headlight output which seems totally inadequate. I'ts just had a MOT, so I assume

the headlights are correctly adjusted.

Any suggestions? + anyone fitted driving lights to help?

welcome to Z ownership and the forum.... the fun starts now :)

This is a well known and very common failing.

I'll let the people who have done something about it tell you what they have done...

but you could try looking at posts for the last couple of months, it's been discussed frequently.

Glenn, the simple answer is don't drive in the dark!

I think the HID option is best to improve the actual headlights but this proves to be a bit expensive.

I think a populer option is to fit an additional pair of lights. PIAA make a nice range to assist in night driving.

Demon tweeks sell 55 watt bulbs that Are supposed to be high output and give 85 watts worth of light .I bought them and they are better because I tested one against an old one and it did shine brighter against the garage wall. Also you could just use higher watt bulbs but you run the risk of melting the wires.

There was a recent post on TT net regarding removing of glare shield on headlamp. Dunno if our UK cars fall into this area but may be worth a look.

From post pics looks like you get megga bright view but probably dazzle anyone in your path.

Another Dave ;-)

Thanks for the advice guys.

Now just waiting for some dry weather ....
