OK, I've spoken to Johnny and this is where it's at.

Here's the description of how it works, posted earlier by Smithy:

Ok guys here's how the kit works, ON BOOST the one way valves are closed, Mio filters allow crankcase fumes to escape into the air induction to prevent build up, as per standard breather system.

OFF BOOST, which is where the problems are, Internal valves inside the Mio filters are now closed preventing air from being drawn into turbo charger inlet pipes. One way valves now open, drawing a vacuum from the inlet manifold, into the engine crankcase via the rocker cover connections. This metered crankcase depression prevents oil from escaping past the turbo end seals, causing exhaust oil smoke, there you go !!!

My conclusion is, the existing standard exhaust set up with cats, keeps back pressure nice and high, when this pressure reduces it causes the piston to wriggle free from the seal, until eventually there is a gap all the way around piston and seal does not mate up. If you're just removing cats it shouldn't be a problem, if your doing the exhaust as well, I would fit the kit, just in case lack of pressure does now wear out the seals. If you're smoking now already try the kit, it can only help matters as it did with mine. The kit can be fitted by anyone who's got screwdrivers and a few pairs of different pliers ...

If your turbos are getting on a bit, starting to smoke or you're removing cats then this seems like reasonable insurance against potentially quick and expensive turbo demise. Several people already have this fitted and report good results.

So far we have 7 people who have shown an interest :-

Forgot to say: I know how much Johnny is making on this and he'd have to sell one kit for every Zed in Europe before he even puts the deposit on his new cams !!!

TT Tim,

In the kit there will be pipes and er .. more pipes and some fittings and stuff I expect. Smithy fitted his own, and so have some other people that Johnny had mentioned. Apart from that you know as much as I do. I am planning to fit mine myself, assuming that I can I would be willing to assist others, should they happen to turn up at my house. Best feedback will be from someone who has done it before.

I'm in IF this also helps with another problem,

namely sucking in oil at a hard right turn.

The PCV valves are connected to the rear of the left valve cover (hope it's the same on a RHD)

and at a hard right turn, oil gets pushed into that corner.

There was a solution to this using oil catch cans, if you remember.

Stillen has come out with another recommendation though.

You can plug those outlets alltogether and only use

the front vetilation hoses.

Here's the setup: http://home.swipnet.se/e-solutions/images/Stillen_PCV.gif

So, the question is: Will the setup that Johnny is selling remedy this problem?

Stage: Rather Ill

Piece of cake to fit, any half wit can do it, hmm, that means me then !!

Fiddly as f**k though, pipe running down behind each throttle body to intercooler pipe is removed and this new kit put in place, it then goes to the new valves, which inturn reduces down to a vacum pipe which connects into the back of the plenum, very easy to follow instructions with each kit, Smithy

Smithy,

You do not plug the outlets at the rear of the valve cover, do you?

I'm just trying to establish how those hoses are routed.

TIA for any input on this.

Maciej

Hmmm, no plugging to do boys, relax, buy the kit and fit it, for the money you can't do better, Smithy

Bloody typical, a decent group buy opportunity and I have already got one..Doh!!
