Removed and reinstalled my clocks today, no probs all day. went out later started car and both needles speedo and rev's went straight to max and have stayed there even after disconnecting the battery, any idea's. the car is a 1992 jap import manual with a speedo convertor.

I presume this was you installing the speedo converter... best bet is to take it all to bits again, and make sure all the connectors are clean. Try waggling the connectors a bit with the ignition on, and you might be able to narrow the fault down. :)

 

Some people seem to have problems with converters but others are fine. Hope you get it sorted! :dance:

This is due to possably a bad or in correct conection

the bad news is you have to turn back the needle

with your finger as the electronics are not strong enough to

pull them over. this meens the dash pod has to come apart again.

unlucky this time! this happend three times when i was fitting

a converter on a mates 2+2..

Also, check that you havnt trapped a wire, possibly causing an unwanted earth

THANKS GUYS fitted the converter 18 months ago but yesterday i decided to fit my new speedo rings and cover plate and thats when things went pearshaped.
