After doing a 400 mile drive the last 20 miles the zed began to misfire. so when got home i found out that cylinder 5 plug electrode had melted a bit and stopping it from sparking,

I have now put a new plug in and it runs very smooth with no puffs of blue smoke. or any signs of major bore damage

I am currently running with 13psi of boost and the boost contoller set to cut off at 1 bar. i have stock injs and turbs but have a mines ecu

Does anyone know what would have caused this.

Cheers

Eddie

Driving 400 miles in a Zed  :nana2:

possibly could be the mine's ecu - they're quite aggressive especially with stock tubs/internals etc.
you do have to be a little careful with the MINES what petrol were you using and what's your base timing set to ??

try colder plug like a seven or is it the other way round shit i cant remember i had this on my cav turbo went from a six heat range to a 8 and that cured my melting plugs but one thing i did know with the cav the mixture was spot *****ck so maybe you got fuelling issues (plugs melted due to high combustion chamber temps ie lean)

I have a mines ecu in mine, running 12.5 psi.

Originally i had greddy No 7 plugs (colder), just wouldn't

run right, a quick trip to ryans & she was all sorted!

Now running standard plugs, drives fine now.

PS: Always use optimax with a mines ecu. ;)

Cheers for the feedback. i use nothing but optimax. as it dets if i use standard fuel. According to the conzult the base timing is set to 15 deg is this ok?

Well just to get me back on the road i have put a full set of Champion R8 PYP plugs in and all seems to be running well even at 13psi. all the other plugs where in good condition.

the Conzult is designed to tell you that you are running at 15 degrees regardless of your base timing , you need to get it checked with a timing strobe to be sure
