Leave a tupperware container half filled with salt in the car Vijay. This seems to work for caravans that are left empty over the winter months...

depends where your going to store it m8?

ie if in a garage then a breathable cover SHOULD stop any condensation

i stored my jag in a unit we work in for a couple of years and covered over we never had a problem, it certainly wasn't a heated garage, and my jag was a cabriolet, if it's being parked outside? again the cover need to be breathable

and ideally jacked up of the ground, as most of the damp rises from the rain etc on the floor, and then apart from the obvious, try and leave it with no petrol in (this attracts condensation) disconnect the battery in case of freezing, treat the leather etc

and if your parking in none of the above places ignore me lol

When the salt has absorbed as much water as it can and stops being so effective, just pop it in a saucepan, and heat it gently until no steam comes off it, cool, and use it in your car again.

Thanks guys :) The condensation is happening overnight and is mainly just the front windscreen. It only started happening since the windscreen was first changed

I'll try the salt trick ;)

A trick with salt sellars (sp???) is to put a few grains of rice in the bottom and this stops the salt clogging. I wonder if rice is more absorbent than salt.... Remember caravans are aluminium, zeds are mainly steel - you want salty vapours in your car? I don't :D Whether this would actually be a problem, I dunno :D

I don't think that salty vapours would be a problem Andy. If you boil sea water it will give off pure water vapour and leave the salt residue in the container. The salt should only absorb the moisture - it shouldn't give any off IMHO.. Should be ok.

Not sure if you could use rice in the car, depends how much you've got on the outside I guess ;)

LOL I wasn't being entirely serious Steve ;) I suppose the question is, can you tell if water has salt in it by its smell?

you know the little packs of silica that come with computer / electronic products to keep them dry, well homebase sell a large version of that which comes in a plastic box with a shelf for the silica packet and a tray to catch the drips.

my car used to p1ss water off the roof and back window and i'd always have soggy carpets in thge boot and in the back footwells. i've sat one of these in one of the back footwells and it's working really well, both windows and carpets are dry
